Hello and welcome to West Coast GoGo! It's the reason why the ladies come to party and move their bodies and why the ballers come to spend their dollars! Holla! This unique movement is lead by CuTTy Dre who is a member of the West Coast Go-Go band The Cutless Supreme. GoGo originally started in Washington,DC in the mid 60's. Most people dont realize it but this type of music has been a strong force through out the music community from past to current connecting to Rap as well as R& B, mainly due to the fact that GoGo music provokes a non stop party with its strong rhythmic percussions vibe. A special part of GoGo bands is that they love showing love to supporters by incorporating them into songs by giving shout outs and encourage crowd participation. There are multiple Hip Hop records and artists that have been influenced by GoGo music which inspired them to sample several GoGo bands.For example, the Rap artist Nelly was inspired to due "Its Hot in Here" a sample from the record "I Feel Like Bustin Loose "by GoGo Icon Chuck Brown. LL Cool J was another Rap artist inspired by GoGo music when he sampled the hot GoGo band Trouble Funk for his record "Rock the Bells". GrandMaster Flash and Melle Mel also sampled Trouble Funk when they created the record "Pump Pump Pump Pump Pump Me Up" as well as artist Eve, KRS ONE and Boogie Down Productions who sampled Trouble Funks "Lets Get Small". The ladies of R& B have even continued to pave the way by utilizing the sounds of GoGo which produced chart mega hits for Beyonce with "Crazy In Love" and artist Amerie with her undeniable GoGo influence on "One Thing".These great examples and usages are brought to your attention to say everyone has been exposed to this unique sound in one way or another and most dont even know it! CuTTy Dre became aware of GoGo music at very young age and truely grew up on such bands as Rare Essence (who Doug E Fresh was inspired to sample on a record), Chuck Brown, Junkyard Band, Backyard Band and the NorthEast Groovers to name a few. This style music caused a huge and positive impact ..Ty Dre's life. In fact after moving to Sacramento in the summer of 95' in order to start a new life he also helped to start a new West Coast Band "The Hard Head Commitee". CuTTy Dre's special experiences and knowledge of GoGo music along with the other super talented members caused an attention they couldnt help but gain. Honestly from the first live show spectators were intrigued by Hard Head Commitees unique GoGo influenced vibe. Hard Head Commitee was definitely a different kind of band in more ways than one with their rythmic section that could hold pocket all night! GoGo and Hip Hop are to thank for their drive and inspiration to keep their torch lit today. Many years,experiences and lessons later and despite the expected and unexpected highs and lows, not worth it record deal offers from both major and indie lables, it became apparent owning your own is the smartest way to go. Motivation and an established business understanding birthed the company H2c Publishing/ASCAP which guarantees they deal in owning their own product. So..look out the for the band Cutless Supreme who embodies a flavor all their own but still has the essence of Hard Head Commitee and H2c Publishing/ASCAP.
