This page is a designed for those who support the military and oppose the behavior of civilians who falsely claim they are war veterans. It's named after a vital piece of legislation: The Stolen Valor Act.The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 is the product of veterans and civilians outraged at the proliferation of phony war vets laying claim to honors to which they had no right. Sadly the problem worsened after 9/11, as many unethical individuals took advantage of public support given to injured servicepeople. Introduced by Congressman John Salazar (D-CO) and signed into law by President George Bush on December 20, 2006, the Stolen Valor Act broadened federal provisions addressing the fraudulent wearing, manufacture, and selling of military medals. Although federal law previously only penalized fraudulent use of the Medal of Honor, the Stolen Valor Act expanded coverage to include other medals (such as the Purple Heart). And while the law previously required an overt act, such as the wearing or manufacture of a medal, the Stolen Valor Act expanded coverage to include false claims of earning those honors.MySpace Layouts at TweakYourPage.com
