He's Well known in the Hip-hop Scene in the Philippines.He's first major collaboration track that made it on a 1 Hollywood Movie in 2006 Soundtrack of "Step Up" the Movie the song " U must B" along with Gina Rene of Soulstice where Artstrong originally co-wrote the words and music of the soundtrack itself. When hear the name DASH,What Does it Represent? ...Matter Of Fact,Just Who Is MC DASH???!!!...Well if you We're A Fan of The Man,The Myth and the Legend You would Know...but to those who are not familiar with the MC who came out of the scene over A DECADE from the Dynamical Duo of Legit Misfitz with hits like JABONGGA,TRAPIK,AIR CHINELAS,LOTTO,SARAP MO and 100 Porsyento well then my friend,you have to travel back in TIME and DIG in the Archives on how this MC/Dj/B-Boy/Artist/ Started his Career...Born Carlito U. Calzado on 11/24/72 This Saguittarian is A Product Of Famous Celebrity Choreographer and T.V. Director Lito Calzado And The Late Mary Ann Ford,Older Brother Of Movie Star Iza Calzado,Dash was Exposed into world of MUSIC when he was just as A kid Waking up in the morning,Messing around his Dad's wide virety of Records ranging from Soul/Funk/Jazz/Rock and Ballads as well and would just do his one man show in the living room...Where his parents saw that this boy had potential and someday will Excel in doing so with the Use of his GOD GIVEN TALENT,So now let's move a few years Forward to the Year where he would dabble into the Music scene,The HIP-HOP Scene,After Growing Up in Canada for Quite some time in the 80's where he was Exposed to the Culture,He Adapted that Enviorment and after a few years goin Back and forth Came back to the Motherland in 1990 and with a crate of records,Started Djing with some childhood friends Mcing as well as spinning records and helping out after every gig...that didn't stop young Carlito from persuing his dream to become an Artist one day so after a few years he was given a Break to work in Japan in 92 as A Dj,but there's was more to that,he even worked as a Waiter as well...after 3 months of working overseas he went back to the Philippines to even push his skills to the limit,did local party events with more friends and hooked up With Master Rapper Francis Magalona along with his Spindicate Posse in which he met the likes of MastaPlann and BOOM! when we went over to visit francis' radio show at 89.9DMZ,from then on he stuck with BOOM! and the rest of the crew and hired him as a Graphic Artist,not knowing that Carlito soon afterwards Changed his name to DASH,Boom Dayupay discoverd that Dash had the Skills as an MC and put him to the test and started recording tracks in his small studio in QC...Thus Legit Misfitz Was Born,Pairing him up with BOOM!'s Dancer at that time Jhego Catabay who was writing Lyrics and rapping as well...Boom found the perfect Combination with Dash and Jhego's rough and rugged Vocals and witty rhymes,Flip-Hop became theyre Style as Originated by Boom D...after a year of recording and writing songs and doing music in 1994 Boom introduced the Filipino Hip-Hop Audience with a brand new Flavour and style of Hip-Hop Courtesy of Legit Misfitz's 1st Album"Sons of Flip-Hop"Which came out under Octoarts-EMI music,they soared thru the Airwaves with theyre Smash Hit"Jabongga!"was voted by radio stations like Magic89.9 as Best Pinoy Rap Group of 1994-95.And from there did an variety of Shows from the Senatorial Elections of 1995 to doing a Movie with Ogie Alcasid,Micheal V,Rannie Raymundo and doing t.v. for Joe D' Mango's "LOVE NOTES"...That marked Dash as his first Lead role along side sexy star Lailani Navarro with Micheal Locsin and Ara mina.And after makin two more records with EMI such as "Ekis Pinoy" and "Balik sa Lumang Eskwela" the Duo went on a Sabatical in 98,Dash left for Canada and honed his Skills even more,returned to the Philippines and then left in 99 to work again in Japan as a Dj/Mc in Roppongi the Makati City of Tokyo 4 months after went back,hooked up With Jhego and Boom and the Rest of VibeStation and went on Tour with Kulay,7Shots of wisdom,Artsrtong and the crew,collaborated with other top crews reppin P.I. like BB Clan,Chinese Mafia,Recognize Compilation,Dj Arbie wons united freestyle 1(and soon did vol.2),Open Mic compilation,D-Coy,Candy,...soon after they started working on theyre 4th album in 2000,That's When Dash started Emceeing at Clubs such as Mars,then Wherelse along side Top Dj's like Steve Mills,Dj Kimozave Dj Mick,Dj Coki and Dj Bad Boy Jeff,Dash started making a name for himself in the Club scene thus Naming him "MC DASH"and came out with a new aka MIGHTY JOE YOUNG…from then on he came out with Jhego and released thyre 4th album Entitled"100 Porsyento"under theyre own Label Phunky Juan Entertainment...(soon afterwards did thyr own compilation P-Noize Vol. juan)MC DASH did well with his Mcing gigs and became resident Emcee for Wherelse Every Wednesday night with Dj kimozave and Dj Coki and formed 63 Squad...then other clubs came such as Club 5,Culture Club,Senses,Did other Events for Studio 23 such as Urban Myx and Emceed for Triple Threat Dj's Apollo,Shortkut and Vinroc...Dj P-Trix,Dj Rasta Root,Dj Rocky Roc,Dj Pros of San Fran,Did out of town gigs like Cebu,Davao,Baguio,Boracay,Cagayan De Oro,Ilo-Ilo,Bacolod...in 2004 he was hired as a Dj for Magic 89.9 and continued to hone his skills even more,was out of he Emceeing circuit for a while but now He is Back After Emceeing for Dj Enferno and Dj Shortkuts Scorpio bash at Dusk and Dj Get LIve of New York City and Producing Tracks for the likes of Pinoys Finest Mike Swift(in which DASH is a Member of as well),Krook and JOLO,7Shots of wisdom,D-Coy and Madd Poets,Pamilya Dimagiba,Food Foundation and others to come...Back with a Brand new Bag of funk,a brand new outlook in life,Lean and Mean and hungry like a Wolf...coming out soon with a Solo Joint Produced and written by The man himself with some help from his bretherns such as ,Dj Skid of Audible Lab Rats Reppin' Hawaii,Artsrtong,Lowkey the boy wonder and Illeon,PksO, Jus Rye of SVC,With future plans of putting up his own multimedia company someday and others,dwelling on making videos and other graphic arts,web page designing,this MC/DJ/PRODUCER/B-BOY/RADIO PERSONALTY/ICON.
Nathan J A.K.A MickeyNathan J started his career in the group Seven Shots back in 1994, a time when hip-hop was not as popular as other music genres here in the Philippines. Mickey “Nathan J” Marquez and Harry Javier and four other individuals got together and formed the group (but back then the name of the group was Phalanx-a Greek name meaning front line army). Their group played pure, straight-up underground hip-hop with 4 mics and 2 turn tables, with hopes that they too would share the limelight and music, much as so with Masta Plann, Francis M., Andrew E. and other hip-hop names that blew up in that era. Listening to the music of Dr. Dre, Wu Tang Clan, Tribe called quest, Nas, TuPac, LL Cool J, Run DMC and Rakim, which were their heroes lead them on to create their own style of music. As years went by changes in the groups with regards to their members and their music evolvement lead them to what we know now as Seven Shots of Wisdom. They were discovered and signed by Mr. Lino “Boom” Dayupay of the group named KULAY under his own independent label “Vibestation Records”. Mr. Dayupay took them under his wing and helped them hone their craft. And in November 1998 they released their album “Lifted” with their carrier single “Who's got the Funk?” distributed by BMG Pilipinas. They did shows in every club, school, TV, radio, and shows in every part of the country which lead them to be nominated in the 1999 Awit Awards Best Rap Group and Best Dance Category, and won the Best Rap Performance at the 1999 Katha Awards. And the year after that they were nominated as Best New Artist in the First 2000 MTV Phil. Awards. They all worked together to create Seven Shots sophomore album called “Love and Hate” under the distribution of EMI Phil. Their recent shows were made possible by working with the company who brought the game sensation called “RAGNAROK”, Level-up Inc. With level-up's new release of a new expansion “War of the Emperium” Seven Shots and Paul Sirate (aka P.K.S.O.) wrote the song “Step inside the Game”. Also released is their second video and single called “All I want” which was directed by one of the pioneers of hip-hop locally Francis Magalona. They were also Front Acts for Black Eyed Peas and Ja Rule.In recent days Nathan J has moved on from being Seven Shots’ front man to pursuing a solo career, he is currently in the process of producing, writing and recording his own debut album “On the Ground Music”. He has also made a move into Events Organizing where he conceptualized the Hip Hop Event series “The Community” a 7 week successful run of shows held over the summer at Club Halo in Mile Long Compound Makati. Every Wednesday Night Hip Hop Artists and Fan came to support their community. It’s the first time a gathering like this came about. From Philippines top emcees, D.Js, graffiti Artists and B-boys showed up. Even Showbiz personalities came to show their love and support for the music. Nathan J is currently in the process of finishing the first ever Low Rider Compilation in the Philippines partnered with Paul “Pikaso” Sirate and Mike “Joker” Villarba of Southside Customs. This will release at the end of September 2006. His own production company “On the Ground Music” is at present on the rise to be one of the premier R&B and Hip Hop production House. Conceptualizing events with major companies from car shows, bar tours to concerts.
