Bio
Bait Guys Stop Hollerin, Get The Message When I Air You
I just turned 18 on the first of April, I am currently studying Btec National Diploma in Health and Social Care at college. I was born in Pakistan and raised in east London. I’m from a traditional Muslim Pakistani family. My father was bought up in UK and he listened to a lot of English music from artists such as Michael Bolton, Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, so I was bought up around a lot of soulful music which is where I guess I got my interest in music from.
I began to sing in primary school. I joined choir with a group of friends and we the choir team, performed at The Royal Albert hall in 1998, from there I entered various talent shows and performance evenings at school. As I stepped in to secondary school loads of new doors opened for me. There were loads of activities in performing arts. after school clubs, music lessons, and lunch time choir lessons. These helped me not only work upon my voice but it helped build my confidence to stand in front of a crowd/audience and sing without failing to hit the right notes.
When I turned 14 I realised that music was a big part of me, I couldn’t go without singing, every occasion or any event I would sing my heart out. Even at times when I was down, stressed out, hurt i would sing. There were times where I didn’t feel happy opening up to my peers or parents so I used my pen and paper to explain how I felt. That’s where I came out with my saying “It’s just me, my paper and pen”.
The music genre that influenced me a lot was R&B/Soul from the sounds of Beyonce, Ashanti, Mary J Blidge, Mariah Carey & Brian McKnight,112, Jagged Edge, Minnie Ripperton, Amy Winehouse, Boys II Men, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Lionel Richie, Atif Aslam & Adnan Sami.
From the moment I realised I wanted to take music seriously I began to contact producers at times I didn’t get very far so I decided to download instrumentals and recorded myself on voice recorder through a standard computer microphone and a demo software I downloaded though download.com (Acoustica mp3 Mixer). I recorded my first ever song that I wrote – ‘Spanish riddem’, I carried on making home recordings and sending them out to my friends over msn messenger.
In 2006 – Tinie Tempah UK Grime artist released a track called “Wifey riddem” The beat/production was originally made by a UK Producer ‘Flukes’ – I then searched for the beat and downloaded it and made an opposite reply to “Wifey riddem” I made “Hubby riddem” that was yet another home recording.
In 2007 after a year of recording hubby riddem I made this myspace account and I uploaded all my home recordings to that. I received a lot of positive feedback however with the feedback I had a lot of people telling me that the quality of the recordings are bad and that I should record at a professional studio. Following that Titchiller a member of “Chronicle Ent” (managed by Tekneek and DJ Limelight) liked my voice and decided to get me on a track as a featured artist, I wrote 2 verses and found myself in a studio owned by TaZzZ recording “would you” the following week. The track received plenty of positive feedback. After recording my first professional track the Producer/MC/Engineer/ TaZzZ was interested in working with me on a couple of projects. I featured on the Artists “Bollywood Fusion” album which was released all over UK on the track "Chand sifarish". We became close friends and he asked me to vocal his beat “Schindlers Riddem” Also known as “How Could You” I wrote to the instrumental and we recorded within a day. TaZzZ decided to release a video for the song which hit channels such as Zee Music, B4U Music, Channel U and radio stations such as Club Asia, BBC Asian Network and BBC 1Xtra,Source FM, De Ja Vouz Fm, MIC Check hosted by DJ Limelight & KanDMan.
After having a good couple of tracks recorded at TaZzZ’s studio I began to perform at various places such as for connexions seminars In Greenwich & Stratford, In 2007 September I entered a local talent show “East London’s Best” This was organised by a local Sikh community centre. I entered and performed ‘How Could You’ there were 3 prizes and 14 contestants. I came 2nd Out of 14 Acts in which Kami K was one of the judges.
To me music is not just noise or sound. Its deeper then that to me. It’s a way of expressing feelings – putting across how you feel whether it be being upset, in love, hurt, happy. Music has helped me at times I thought id never be happy. It brings me inner peace and its one thing I can call my own.
Thank you for taking the time to read my biography
