The band was formed on September 15, 2005, several hours before its first gig at Orange Club in Nis. Tamara Acimovic - Tashka, previously engaged at the recently-opened Orange Club as a singer for a cover duet, decided to form a full-fledged band which would continue to do gigs at Orange Club. She was joined by Predrag Niketic - Peca on bass (with whom she had sang in one of their earlier bands), Dusan Petrovic - Dule on guitar, and Marko - Djika on drums. The first month and a half of playing at Orange Club were not as musically accomplished as one might have hoped but the band nevertheless attracted a fair amount of regular audience. Yet, most of the members felt that the band would not be able to make any significant progress, both financially and musically, unless there were some changes in the line-up. With that in mind, Igor Petrovic, who had previously worked with Tashka and Peca, was asked to join the band as the male lead singer, which he gladly accepted. His first gig with Orange Band was on October 27, 2005. Only a few days later, Djika was replaced by Desimir Stojimirovic - Desko, one of the most in-demand drummers in Nis. The new line-up made quite an impact every Thursday night at Orange Club, establishing itself as the Orange Club resident band during its first year there. Near the end of the season, several gigs were played at New Grandma's House in Nis. After a two-month summer-break in 2006, Orange Band continued to play Thursdays at a packed Orange Club but also expanded its activity beyond the Nis city limits. However, due to Tashka's inability to do gigs outside of Nis, a new singer, Varvara Anastasijevic - Vaca, was asked to fill in for those gigs. In its second season the band played Leskovac, Prokuplje, Soko Banja, Knjazevac, Lebane, and Brus, plus several other clubs in Nis. In January, 2007, personal reasons forced Tashka to quit the band and Vaca was hired as a full-time female lead singer. During the summer of 2007, Orange Band had regular open-air gigs at two clubs inside the Nis Fortress (weather-permitting, unfortunately) and managed to attract a whole new audience. The band continued gigging in its third season, expanding its work even further, to Krusevac and Kraljevo. Two New Year's Eve gigs and a wedding party gig were just a cherry on the top for the season. Unfortunately, in February 2008, health issues forced Desko to leave the band, which led to a couple of months of struggling to maintain the previous level of gigging. Thanks to replacement drummers, notably Vuka, Filip, and Desko!!!, Orange Band managed to pull through and in May 2008, a new full-time drummer was introduced - Milos Vojvodic-Mishko, yet another in-demand drummer from Nis. After a "gigful" summer of 2008, Orange Band is currently gigging through its fourth season, still as Orange Club resident band.
