I've been playing in bands since 1980. Some, just for fun, and a short time period, and others for a prolonged period of time. That prolonged period of time thinking that some of them were going to be longer than they actually lasted!
I started out in high school helping some guys out for variety/talent shows. After that, I played in 4 band while stationed in Germany from 1983 to 1985; Captive, Spectrum, Predator, and Cold Sweat.After I got out of the Army I "Ran" into a friend of a friend of a friend who plays drums, and my "Friend" thought we should get together and jam. THAT led to the band Random, from 1986-1987, with reunions in 1989 and 1991. During that time I played in some really fun bands: Live Wire, with Troy Castellano (To The Core-in my friends list!!! Check 'em out!), Leather and Lace, Billie R.O.A.D., and Gesture (from 1991-1994 with Dave Noren and Hevy Kevy Kevin Franzen-also in To The Core). THAT band became Bad Jack, shortly after I left. In early 1996, Troy asked me if I'd like to run the light show for Bad Jack... and, of course, I said "Yes!" Can't keep me away for very long!!! Shortly after running the lights, their bass player left and they asked if I'd be interested. DUH!At the end of 1996, with Bad Jack, I left due to some ligament issues in my right arm. About a year and a half later, towards the beginning of '98, Troy asked if I'd like to start jammin' again, with Gesture/Random drummer Darrin Hendershot and Dave Noren, and keep the name Bad Jack.... You know... just to have some fun and make some extra 'ching!'Dave got Bad Jack going in a different, yet cool, direction, so Troy put together The Troy Castellano Group; a.k.a; TCG! THIS was a blast!! We did a CD in Troy's basement with some really good equipment, and what Troy did in that studio was fantastic! Fun as hell. It was never ending fun, until my mind started to melt, a little bit! I took a step back on New Years eve, '99, and desided to chill for a while.In early 2001, Darrin Hendershot told me he was auditioning for a band that also needed a bass player, and asked if I would............... SURE!
This melting pot of generations and styles became Thump! It only lasted till Sept. of '01, but it was fun! I played music I've never even thought about playing!I ended up moving to NW Arkansas in late '01 and pretty much stayed out of the music scene until 2005, when a friend told me some guys were looking for a bass player for a modern "Hillbillie" band. WHY NOT! SOUNDS LIKE FUN! Beer, Beer, Beer, and music! That band became Muleskinner, and lasted approx., 2 years. We didn't gig much, but it was fun anyway!In the spring of '07, Slick Weimer started working at the same place I was, and started talking about music and bands and parties, and music and bands and CHICKS! That's all it took.We started A Slick Deal in March of '07, recorded some originals, and gigs at the local U of A joints until the end of July, '08, when we started on different paths.IT IS "A SLICK DEAL's" MUSIC THAT I'VE WRITTEN, AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF REVAMPING SOME LYRICS, VOCAL LINES, AND OTHER STUFF, that will become "Eric Deal's" 1st solo project, EVER! 3 songs I wrote and sang on that project are on this page. The rest will take some time, but WILL happen...... SO STAY TUNED!{This concludes the sad little story of Eric Deal. Thank you for reading this........ YOU CAN WAKE UP NOW!}
