Smashing the conventional Price/Service Ratio:
With an hourly rate of $30, a cool atmosphere, and an accomidating staff, we think you'll find that recording can be a relaxed experience when you do it with us. And, you won't be sacrificing quality for price. We have a custom built multi room facility with everything you need to get your music down without bleed and without stress.Overdubbing and editing? No problem... We use the industry standard Pro Tools digital audio workstation from Digidesign. Weather we need to fix a wrong note or add bed audio, we can do it precisely and quickly saving valuable energy and cold hard cash.
Technology Meets Musicianship:
Here at Raging Steel Fury, we believe that recording is about capturing performances... Real Performances. The kind that contain genuine power of emotion and execution. We have built our process around this concept. We're sure you'll find our method to be fresh and most importantly, completely effective.
First of all, we hate headphones. If you've ever recorded with them, you probably feel the same way. Our setup is completely anti-headphone. Here's how it works: We have a massive acoustic damper that goes in front of the drums shielding the drum mics from ambient noise like guitars and bass. This provides an unbelievable amount of isolation for those mics. The amplifiers go in "Isolation booths" where they are mic'd individually. This gives the musician the ability to turn their amp up as loud as it needs to be to get that "Magic Sound".
Of course, this is all pretty straight forward. Most studios do things this way, right? Yes. These are tried and true methods. But, where we differ is that we give each musician their own monitor. Not a set of headphones. What this means is that while you're playing, you have a physical speaker pointing at you letting you hear your instrument loud and proud along with whatever else you need to hear. We can provide seperate monitor mixes all around. This is great because you can perform as a band. It's like playing a show. You'll all be in the same room playing as loud as you want. We've found that this makes for very real sounding recordings that are not sterile at all. Of course... If you want to use headphones, we've got you covered there as well. We have several pair and the gear to make them work.
Maybe sombody makes a mistake. This happens all the time. Remember, everything's isolated. All we have to do is punch in the problem areas. Doing this type of "Touch up" overdubbing yields the polished recording everybody wants without sacrificing the vibe of the band playing together. Also, it saves time which lowers cost, makes scheduling easier, and enables you to get your project out sooner.
Geared up to throw down:
We have lots of equipment here at the studio. Everything from a house drum kit to amplifiers to outboard rack gear. Whatever you want to do... The sky's pretty much the limit. Usually clients bring in their own stuff. But, ours is here if you need it at no extra charge.
The house drum kit is especially useful because we know what it sounds like and have recorded it before. Also, it has two actual kick drums. We've found this aspect to be invaluable when we get to the mixing and editing phase.
Open doors and Open minds:
Let's face it. Making a metal or hardcore punk record at a stodgy studio is a drag. At Raging Steel Fury extreme music is king.
We love metal. Bring it on! We're metal heads ourselves. Weather it be Black, Death, Power, or whatever other brand of metal you're doing, we'll do it and you can bet we've allready done it.
Hardcore punk? It's on! We grew up on that stuff. Also, our aforementioned performance oriented style of tracking will give you way more raw punk rock power than traditional overdubbing. Not to mention top notch sound quality.
Garage Rock has been recorded here with great results. Funk bands... Alt Country... Lo-Fi Techno... Instrumental Guitar... you name it. It's been done here. Heck, we even did a demo for an aspiring Broadway singer.
Don't just get "Recorded":
If you've made several previous recordings, you probably know your way around a studio and understand what needs to be done. You have the benefit of experience. In your case the old studio business model works just fine. The engineer just pushes "Record", "Stop", "Play", etc... Music get's "Recorded" and it sounds great.
We can certainly operate like that here. If you have a specific course of action that you want to take or there's a producer involved, we'll simply do whatever we can to help.
On the other hand, if you've never recorded before or you feel that your last recording experience achieved less than stellar results, please... Give us a shot. Great recordings are made by people working together. Let's make a great recording together. Don't just get "Recorded"
