The Duo „Dirks und Wirtz“ has been distinguished at international competitions, with amongst others, the sponsor prize of the 1st EUROPEAN GUITAR AWARD 2006. Reentko Dirks and Daniel Wirtz met for the first time in the year 2000 at the beginning of their studies “GUITAR WORLDMUSIC” with Thomas Fellow in Dresden, Germany. In the same year they formed the duo “Dirks und Wirtz”. Their first joint CD “Danza non Danza” is the result of years of influence and experience of concert life which they document in the 14 pieces. “Contagious and sensational power - a wonderful duo!” (Ralph Towner)
El duo “Dirks und Wirtz” fue premiado en concursos y festivales internationales, entre otros con el premio especial del primer EUROPEAN GUITAR AWARD 2006. Su primer CD común”Danza non Danza” es el resultado de anos de influencias y experiencias de la vida de conciertos, que documentan en 14 piezas.
Das Duo « Dirks und Wirtz » wurde auf internationalen Wettbewerben und Festivals ausgezeichnet, u.a. mit dem Sonderpreis des 1. EUROPEAN GUITAR AWARD 2006. Reentko Dirks und Daniel Wirtz trafen sich erstmals 2000 zu Beginn ihres Studiums „Gitarre Weltmusik“ bei Prof. Thomas Fellow in Dresden und schlossen sich im selben Jahr zum Duo „Dirks und Wirtz“ zusammen. Ihre erste gemeinsame CD „Danza non Danza“ ist das Ergebnis der jahrelangen Einflüsse und Erfahrungen des Konzertlebens, die sie in 14 Stücken dokumentieren...

Reentko Dirks wanted to learn percussion when he was a child. This idea had to be dropped due to there being no teacher and this is the reason why he maltrated his guitar as a drum kit. His percussive way of playing and his intensive involvement with flamenco and Arabian music led to close co-operation with renowned ensembles and artists, and enabled him to perform in Europe and Asia.

Daniel Wirtz-

an enthusiastic if not necessarily good amateur mandolin player and an interested hobby jazz guitarist, has dedicated the main part of his musical creativity and his greatest love to the concert guitar. Musicians such as Ralph Towner, Egberto Gismonti, The Beatles, Pat metheny and John McLaughlin inspire his guitar playing and his own compositions...
