It all started in the mid-seventies when jumpin bought a copy of Hot August Night by Neil Diamond which inspired him to learn four chords and start playing guitar. With his younger brothers, Gregg on guitar and Terry on drums they formed the Batesy Boys and started playing shows everytime visitors came to the house. It was around this time that their parents noticed fewer and fewer visitors were coming. Not to be dicouraged they put their gear in their Datsun 120Y and hit the road to Parkdale and played a show in Aunty June and Uncle Berts loungeroom, some say it was the best show to be played in their loungeroom in quite a while. The band folded in the late seventies and it was around this time that jumpin joined up with Critchley who was now a drummer but started out as a guitar player and long time followers of the band would know that he nearly joined the Batesy Boys but instead was whisked off by his girlfriend of the times to join an obscure religous cult. He drummed with jumpin for a short time then travelled overseas, when he returned his drum set had dissappeared and that was then end of his music. during the eighties and nineties not much music was being played as jumpin was busy playing football, getting married, getting divorced and getting married again as well as having a few kids along the way. When he turned 40 he relearnt those four chords and started playing again. At one stage he jammed with the DeeTees but they had trouble keeping up with jumpins unique timing and told him to go away and so now he just plays with himself. Jumpin is a self employed bricklayer, married with three kids, Sean the eldest plays in the band IWO and also does hip hop under the name KINETIC, Jackson plays in the school rock band and Madeleine plays recorder and has just started guitar lessons. After a hard day of stacking brick on brick, then mowing the lawns, washing the dishes, walking the dog, coaching junior football, getting the kids to bed he finally picks up his guitar to relax and his wife says get out in the shed and make that noise. All songs were written by J.Bateman and all noises on the recordings were made by J.Bateman. They were all recorded in the back shed recording studio on either a Tascam 4 track tape or Boss BR8 eight track recorder. No musical intsruments were harmed in the recording proccess
