Formed in mid 2007, Blacktop Idol draws musical influences from all across the rock spectrum. Featuring members of Radio One, Angry Amputees and the Mojo Apostles they have created a unique sound that is inspired by everyone from Cash to the Clash, from X to the Rolling Stones. From punk to country to reggae they take what they love and translate it to they’re own sound.
With the sultry vocals of Stacey Dee backed with the unique song writing and guitar playing of Dale Andersen Blacktop Idol is already establishing themselves as prominent band ready to bring it to the next level. With blistering guitar tones and quality hooks they plan on taking you on a ride giving you a glimpse of what they have experienced as musicians and humans.
Blacktop Idol recorded a two song EP in August 2007. ‘Not that it Matters’ was the first song they ever wrote and has a swingy ragtime rock feel, exploding into a powerful chorus. ‘Ideal’ the second songs falls right in line with the classic power riffs of the 70’s mixed with the snotty vocals of a Joan Jett chorus.2008 stands to be a promising year for the five-piece band. Blacktop Idol is already making waves with energetic, spot-on live shows. They will begin recording a full length album in July 2008. The members of Blacktop Idol plan on taking full advantage of this time as true independent musicians.
