The vocal tracks highlight one of those most familiar of situations - 'communication breakdown' & the instrumentals take us on a very imaginative journey elsewhere...Sam & Dave have kindly provided some info ........1. No Conjecture- This number finds them both in fine form, Sam embracing wonderful orchestral sounds with strings and excellent rhythms whilst Dave sings in a reflective mood but 'challenging the struggle of a disintegrating relationship' as he puts it, this is Manzello from the heart, always a good sign for a decent collaboration.......2. Rincon Point- Was written immediately after Sam & his girlfriend returned from California, living on Venice beach where surfing the waves was the daily routine, a beautiful song well crafted and again we hear the strings.......3. Rue de Sunset- Here's a jazzy style tune with a traditional yet quirky feel, Manzello's sense of humour is evident in this song with Dave treating Sam's keyboard work as the voice of the woman in the story.......4. A Hint of Carnality-This developed from a late night jam i'm told, i hear a snake charming/middle eastern flavour here with the clarinet being put to good use...All in all a great selection, brave and smart!
