About Me

............ Sally Ironmonger Trio on Facebook
Layout from Mypsace.orgThe Sally Ironmonger Trio, is made up of Brian Carter (acoustic guitar) and Shaun Murray (gut-strung guitar & mandolin), and Sally Ironmonger on vocals. They play an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, & gypsy swing, as well as original material inspired by living in Medway. The Sally Ironmonger Trio has been performing together since 1998 and over that period of time has developed a unique style which embraces the combined influences of Sally, Brian & Shaun, with a growing canon of original songs which have been brought together into the CD "Through the Arches", available from May 2008."Through the Arches" includes material specifically about Medway, such as Flying Isaac - a jolly ditty about nineteenth century prostitution in Chatham, and No Ships - written to accompany a BBC documentary commemorating the 20th anniversary of the closure of Chatham Dockyard. The BBC also commissioned Haul Away, a sideways look at the slave trade and John Hawkins' role in that on the bicentennary of the abolishion of slavery. Molly Morgan's Legacy captures the experiences of people who moved to Medway in the past to find work and a better life, and Cabbage Island is a more contemporary companion piece about the magnetic pull home for those who move away. Don't Say, Laugh No More & Cliche Man are all love songs in a funny sort of way. Pere Lachaise reflects on the fragility of fame, Sitting Pretty ponders how easy it is to feel life passing you by, and Poor Tormented Soul takes a wry look what it means to sing the blues (featuring the fabulous Jim Riley on harmonica). The guitar duet Bye Bye Blue shows the complementary guitar styles of Brian & Shaun to great effect and the Kirsty MacColl cover They Don't Know allows Sally to pay homage to one of her song-writing heroes. The CD is available at gigs, or by email from the website.www.sallyironmonger.co.ukAlso check out Shaun's sites - www.shaunmurray.biz and www.myspace.com/shaunmurrayguitar .... he also has loads of stuff on YouTube which is fab
