Comecei no contrabaixo com 15 anos, quando meu pai (que achava ser o instrumento mais fácil de aprender) me colocou na aula com o baixista da igreja que eu freqüentava e me deu um baixo e um amplificador. Fiz alguns meses de aula e depois segui meus estudos sozinho. Sem internet na época, fui quebrando a cabeça, pois não tinha alguém por perto para me ajudar, nem acesso a qualquer material didático. As técnicas, desenvolvi vendo as vídeo-aulas do Celso Pixinga e do Zuzo Moussawer e tentando descobrir como o Julio Cezar (Catedral), Victor Wooten, Michael Manring, Nico Assumpção, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller e Stanley Clarke, faziam o que faziam. Quando já sabia varias escalas, mais não sabia como empregá-las na musica, procurei um professor, o baixista Cláudio Souza, com quem estudei harmonia por um ano. Desde então prossigo meus estudos sozinho, passando por duas aulas com excelentíssimo Senhor Arthur Maia.Ocupei o posto de baixista das bandas Álife (New Metal), Raio X (Hard Rock), ElementVs (pop-rock), SeculluZ (Hard Rock Progressivo) e atualmente Banda AGE ONE (prog metal). O trabalho da minha banda AGE ONE pode ser conferido no site http://www.age-one.net e no myspace http://www.myspace.com/age1metal Acompanhei o cantor Docc Nunes nas noites cariocas, cujo repertório incluía Mpb, samba, pop-rock e música internacional etc. Acompanhei coral em igrejas, orquestra de sopro em simpósios, em casamentos, aniversários, eventos da prefeitura. Hoje, prossigo com meu trabalho solo com o DEMO “Baixaria”. O CD completo e com o mesmo nome, pretendo lançar ano que vem.

I started playing bass with 15 years, when my father (who thought that would be the easier instrument to be learned) gave me one and also an amplifier, then got me to have some classes with the church bass player. I attended to the classes for some months until I start to learn it myself. Without access to the internet by that time and no close musician to help me, I had to burn the midnight oil, even with no educational material. I developed my technique by watching vídeo-classes from Celso Pixinga and Zuzo Moussawer and by trying to figure out how Julio Cezar (Catedral), Victor Wooten, Michael Manring, Nico Assumpção, Jacó Pastorious, Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke did what they did. The moment I already understood about the scales but didn’t know how to apply it, I decided to look for a teacher, who was the bass player Cláudio Souza with whom I studied harmony for an year. From now on, I follow my own steps, having had two classes with the illustrious Mr. Arthur Maia. I became member of the following bands: Álife (New Metal), Raio X (Hard Rock), ElementVs (pop-rock), SeculluZ (Progressive Hard Rock) and currently AGE ONE (prog metal). The same happened in chorals from churches, blow orchestra in symposiums, weddings, birthdays and city hall events. Nowadays I keep on with my solo DEMO project called “Baixaria”. I intend to release the complete album with the same name next year.
