Bret Short

Hailing from the state of Georgia, Bret's roots are in the mountains of north Georgia. As a child he was heavily influenced by appalacian bluegrass and country music played in the surrounding areas. As he grew older growing up in Atlanta he was fortunate to be surrounded by many great R&B Rock and Jazz players who broadend his musical styles. Bret began playing local clubs before he was old enough to legally be a patron. In the early eightys he took a gig with Bertie Higgins (of key largo fame) after which he became a guitarist with David Allan Coe after the departure of Warren Haynes. Thirty years later he had either been a sideman or opened for countless artist. As a multi instrumentalist Bret is also proflic on Pedal steel,Bass.Mandolin Drums and Dobro. Being able to cover any musical style is best known for his lightning fast b-bender playing. Being well versed in all genres of music has been a sought after session player and has played on over 3000 projects either as a player or producer.In July of 2006 Bret married his longtime girlfriend Wendy Daniels who is also a very talented singer songwriter. Not only are they soulmates but are collaborative musical partners penning over 100 songs together.Wendys last effort On The Right Track recieved rave reviews from critics worldwide and is working on a new christian project. Bret's life changed in 2004 when he gave his life to Jesus and began a music ministry, playing for the one who gave him his talent in the first place. He teamed up with old compadre Leon Everette on his new CD On Fire For Jesus and either wrote or cowrote seven songs on the project along with Wendy Daniels Short and Wayne Galloway Bret and Wendy reside on a farm in Ward,SC a town of about 120 people. Bret has also teamed up with another old bandmate Mark Boston aka Rockette Morton of Captain Beefheart and The Majic Band as a staff musician at BoMark studio in Aiken SC. He has worked on mant great projects there. Singer songwriter Roger Gorham, Derrick Monk (James Browns Producer) Les Kitchings to name a few.Bret also operates Gloryland studio with partner and spiritual mentor Rev. Steve Oltz.
