NEXT SHOWS
So the 12 in 12 series is over and was fantastic! What are we gonna do now? Well.....
It was a huge undertaking and since we all do this in our spare time and for no money, we decided to take a break. Our last big show was........are you ready for this?
ROLLER SUICIDE THE SEQUEL!!!!!!
Sunday November 18th. Yes, another Toronto Roller Derby Fundraiser. Bands, chicks, raffles, and rollerskates! We had the Famous Monsters and Class Assasins on the bill!
FABLE JOE'S THE THIRD
Friday November 30th 2007 @ 8pm
Holy Joe's 651 Queen St West
Yet another night of cool tunes and good times.
Goth In The Dark photos part 2
Fable House ..4: Roller Suicide
This event was by far our most successful! I am a rollergirl, as some of you may know, and Martini Fable is also Martini Suicide. We started this silly little name for ourselves...Roller Suicide. Then we thought...what a great idea for an event! Roller Girls and Suicide Girls. The Toronto Roller Derby League (ToRD) is very new and we need $$. So a fundraiser was born. The Mod Club was nice enough to give us the venue at an extremely reasonable price, actaully it was a steal!!! We got a couple of great bands. Cougar Party, headed by Jubilee of the Death Track Dolls (that's my team) and Undadogg who are friends and derby lovers!! We also were able to get the great DJ Dwight for the evening and two great burlesue dancers. One of which was Roxxxy Jive of the DVAS (at the time, she's a Doll now). The other was Lucy Suicide! The Pillow Fight League showed up and gave us a demonstration...and it was hot! And for the Roller part, we put on a scrimmage or "demo", complete with an explanation of the rules and commentary! Oh! I almost forgot the raffle and door prizes. We had some amazing shit donated to raffle off!! There were dvds, hair cuts, tattoo gift certificates and an ipod nano!!!! We ended up raising $1175 for the league and I thank all who came!!!!
Fable House ..5: Punk The Halls
This show will always stand out in my mind. It was my musical debut!!! Bag Lady, that's me and my buddy Newby aka Jonathan Richmond. Remember him? Anyway, we covered a song or two, a tribute to Wesley Willis and an version of "The Cat Came Back" that no one will forget. (cat guts everywhere!) Next on the bill was the Sons Of Cretin, a Ramones cover band. Blew me away, I danced my ass off! And they have a chick singer, she's almost better than Joey! The Rock Ons were next with a very theatrical stage show....it was interesting to say the least. Our headliners have now become my favourite toronto punk band...The Famous Monsters. These guys kick ass...CHECK EM OUT, or I will eat your brain!
Fable House ..6: Fishnets, Leather and Lipstick OH MY!!
This show had two very important causes! One was Martini Fable's birthday..and she enjoyed it let me tell you! The next was the birth of "Breast Wishes". It was a Wizard Of Oz themed fetish night. We had some spectacular burlesue by the Supernova Sisters and Lucy Brutal (yup same girl from Roller Suicide). Once again DJ Acerbius enchanted us with his musical selections. The highlight of the night was the enormous, hand painted yellow brick road on the floor. Complete with contrasting red brick road. We had a lot of fun that night and thanks to everyone who came to support the cause and Martini Fable's birthday!!
Fable House ..7: Love Knows No Color
Us here at Fable House were deciding what to do in February. We thought of the whole Valentines Day crap and were not feelin it. Then we thought, what about Anit-Valentines? Then it dawned on us...screw "Valentines"...it's Black History Month!! So we are incorporated the love with the breakin down of racial barriers. We here at Fable House feel that music was born out of black culture. So much of what we know and love today wouldn't exist without jazz, blues and rock n' roll...all sprouting from the great black pioneers of music. So that month 4 whities threw an urban show. We had some amazing acts. Unfortunatley, we were disappointed with Rene Winters. She decided last minute to not perform. There is one thing I cant stand and that's people who don't follow through with their promises. On the flip side, the freestyle battle is one we will never forget!! Also we raised more money for breast cancer with "BREAST WISHES" with our selection of romantic naughty novelties. Our total was up to just over $800 at that point!!! Thanks to everyone for the support, it is more appreciated than you will ever know!!!!
Fable House ..8: Unplugged
This show was all about bringing together some of the wonderful people who have worked with us in the past! First up was an unexpected and last minute surprise! Nicole Christian on her piano and Brian her sweet violinist. They enchanted us with their harmony. Then we had our very own River Fable going second. As usual he talked more than he played but that's why we love him! Followed by The Lazy Eye Project, who performed at our "Ode To Inspiration" show. His completely instrumental pieces took us all on a journey. Next was another new member of the Fable House family, his name is Dale Roossien. I felt his performance was very real and simple in a very good way! After Dale we had another new family member, Cara Cortese. What a treat indeed! Another "Ode" veteran performed next, Jonathan Richmond. We all remember his 20 minute, epic song which brought us all to tears! He blew us away again. My favourite part was the Tom Waits cover of Picture In a Frame. Last but certainly not least is Undadogg. They first performed with us at "Ode" and next they headlined "Roller Suicide". A perfect way to end the evening! Gotta love when Ruben and Remi cover them wonderful tunes!! It was an intimate evening with people we love. Oh and we raised more money for Breast Cancer.
Fable House ..9: Viewer's Discretion is Advised
Our ninth show was to raise money for MS. My captain on the Death Track Dolls has been diagnosed and I am doing what I can! We had (and still do) "Save Sanderella" t-shirts to sell. What was the show? COMEDY. We had a ranchy night. We laughed our asses off!! The show was a great success! All the comics were hillarious and everyone had a great time. In total we raised another $685.00 for MS as part of the Save Sanderella campaign. Which we still sell shirts for at every event. $10 and it all goes to MS.
Fable House ..10: Art Before Your Eyes
This show was a real treat!! We had yet another fun night to raise money for Breast Wishes! We had a gallery showing. We had a bunch of photographers and painters. Janine Carter, Janet Vlietstra, Jona Stuart, Chris Nefs, and Martini Fable and more. In addition to this gallery we had an "inspired" idea. Infront of the stage was a blank canvas. Behind this back lit canvas were the musicians. They played as freely as possible. Sunsar Avens, Jonathan Richmond, an unnamed band and the Lazy Eye Project were on board. Their music was the inspiration to the artists who were painting the canvas. This canvas was quite large...actually it will be in at least 3 sections. We served free refreshments in the form of bread and cheese and veggies. Thanks to those few of you who came out to support. I think the night was magical and as always I was impressed by our local talent.
Fable House ..11: Chicks and Dolls
This can only be discribed as BAD ASS! We held a fundraiser for two Toronto Roller Derby teams. The Death Track Dolls and the Chicks Ahoy! Roller Derby isn't a new sport but we are bringing it back, that takes a lot of time, dedication and money! We had an awesome night planned. First off we had two bands that definately made you "Get Up And Dance"...The Famous Monsters and Sons Of Cretin!! After the live music we had DJ Shawn MacDonald who got my booty shakin! We also had take a picture with a rollergirl, raffles, door prizes and more! I must say that Aaron at the wreckroom is my favourite sound guy. Infact everyone there from the bartenders to the owners made it a real special night!
Fable House ..12: Reunion
Well it's been a year at this point! Wow, our twelfth show. We decided to end it the way it began. A full circle. We had a get together folks. Included in the night's performers were Ian Satter, and River who were in our first show. The others are wonderful people we have found and befriended along the way. The Lazy Eye Project, Nicole Christian and Marko helped us finish this year up right. It's going to be a great night. Thanks to all that came out to help us celebrate the end of our 12 month adventure. Fear not my lovelies, Fable House is not over.

"BREAST WISHES"

Breast cancer is a cause that has become very dear to Fable House. Our good friend and huge inspiration in my (Michelle Fable) life, Ashley, is facing the battle for the third time. The Breast Cancer foundation has been a great help to her. They provide her with a support group, without whom she doesn't know if she'd still be here and the cash she needs for treatments and meds. Since we have these shows every month we were sure there was a way to give some money to her support group and the Foundation. The sixth event, "Fishnets, Leather and Lipstick OH MY!" was the first to address that. ALL PROCEEDS from that night went to "Breast Wishes", that's what we are calling it...cute, no? She was able to get a whole bunch of porn, lube, massage oil, toys and other novelties donated to the cause. We are selling it all for a reasonable price and 100% of the cash goes to "Breast Wishes"! I also had some shirts given to us by Bones Inkorporated, which we are also selling. This is now a staple at evey event!!! So every show has an opportunity to help.

Ashley, The Mistress of Porn and Toys herself...

Look at some of the cool stuff we have....

And you cant see it but there is porn...tons and tons of porn!!!!
Martini has also opened a paypal account for donations. click here for details.
GRAND TOTAL SO FAR........ $1185.00!!!!!!!!
THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OUR FIRST REVIEW!!

I wanted to express my enthusiasm for the first two fable house shows, for the upcoming Goth-in-the-Dark this month and for the remaining events!
The first show consisting of five musical acts was highly enjoyable while encompassing a variety of different musical styles ranging from Ian Sattler's mercurical electric guitar, Ryan Thomas Sheppard's soulful keyboard and guitar/bongo set, to Ocean Karma's (River) mesmorizing finger-picking to end the evenings festivities. Highlighted by performances from Revolution Love aka The Fool and August, the first of many Fable House events was a night of music I won't forget, thanks especially to the CD's on sale showcasing some of the acts that played.
The second event, held at the Tranzac Theatre, featured over a dozen artists who stepped on stage to intensify a painting by bringing it into the third dimension with a performance - be it song, poetry, interpretive dance, computer-generated visuals or the tried and true method of improvising musical interludes by manipulating multiple parts of your body like intruments (Brian and Jay). From Sunsar Avens' lush and daunting Toronto soundscape of cars, buses, people and bells; to The Quickening's hypnotic "Swallow Your Eyes" (complemented with minimalistic, shiver-inducing artwork); and Johnathan Richmond's epic 20+ minute song, which painted the touching story of characters from multiple generations that were forced to look inside themselves to find everlasting bliss - the night was unforgettable. Chad Laughing simultaneously wooed, captivated and poked fun at the audience; two of the members from Undadogg strummed flawless covers and Jason Pereira and Brian Sansana conjured Ginsberg and Pacino's spirits respectively. Everyone who took the stage that night to showcase their artwork and/or talents created an artistic showcase that was nonpareil. The sheer variety and quality of artists was astounding and I commend those who coordinated the event for finding such a diverse range of talent. I whole-heartedly look forward to the next FableHouse event and I plan on attending all 12!
