My Name is Phil Sefton, I have currently been playing drums for 6 years. I started when a friend Martin Roberts taught me a simple beat on his kit at home, from this i learnt and developed my drumming, picking up new things from other drums and videos, after playing for 1 year i found myself playing in my schools brass band, at this time i wasnt the best drummer ever, i worked on timing and reading.
After i had been playing for 3 years i started to play in a funk band call "Jam On Toast", despite the name the band was good, and possibly was the place where i found my love for funky drumming, I drummed for Jam On Toast for a few various gigs and concerts untill we decided to slit, as well as drumming in this band i was still working on technique and skill, picking up new things as time went on from various drummers in my school and professional drummers inspiring me to drum and progress.
As i started my GCSE's i wasnt playing in any band but i did drum for various things around school but mainly practised solo work and developing my talent for the drums, then at the end of year 10 (age 15) I helped in the making of a band rock/funk band called Chaos Junkies, Which i drummed for, for a short period of time, untill being replaced by a permanent drummer, im still and avid fan of the band, now i drum for my own band "Group Therapy" Which is an experimental Indie Band, at the moment we have played at "The 27 Club Liscard", "Barfly Loft Liverpool", Barfly Theatre Liverpool", "Darcys Irish Pub Newbrighton", although i am a funk drummer i find indie drumming interesting and a whole new style to learn and master.
My lastest band venture is session drumming for a guitarist called Alex Macdonald, an acoustic guitarist/vocals, as well as Me there is also a session Bassist, Lead and Rhythm Guitar.
As well as my current comitents i am looking to start something new maybe a jazz or funk band, or become part of one, hopfully a band with a confident and experienced rhythm section
