Estimated Prophet
Estimated Prophet started out in the New Forest, southern England, in 1995 and, until the band dissolved in 1997, performed regularly at the Twynam Music Venue in Christchurch, UK. The band was initially formed as a vehicle to air Mark’s heartfelt love-songs which were beautifully performed using the warmth of Adam’s fretless bass and Robin’s elegant and dancing folk guitar style. In true folk spirit, occasionally they would be joined by others; other times only two of the band played. After a month or two, it was realised that the band needed a name and adopted Robin’s former band’s name.
All three members now perform solo or with other bands. Mark now goes by his middle name, Gavin, and lives in Australia.
Whilst the members of Estimated Prophet are now at opposite sides of the Earth, the spirit lives on… plans are afoot to digitally re-master some of the original tracks, add some previously unreleased material, and release a CD sometime in 2008.

Honest Passion
All around, the world shines its beauty,
and in it people everywhere search for intimacy
in a society which denies this very thing,
marked by suspicion, mistrust and anonymity.
In the streets we stare, avoiding other eyes,
whilst all around advertisements portray contented smiles.
But the background sound of tension rings
ever louder, faster, soon the rebels will up-rise.
Discontent the people are, slowly squeezed again;
Pulled by desire for more material to wrap
themselves from stress and cold conformity,
their lives now veiled in mother culture's trap.
And Jezebels, cast in sin to seduce the weak
and unseeing; now caught, is this to be the end?
Or will pain so caused be repentance enough
to allow the path to be even once again?
As part of all this sinfulness, experiences reign,
revealing many aspects of the longings we desire,
but often through humiliation and so much pain.
And yet we fall victim time and time again.
Longing for love and comfort and a need to be fulfilled,
we stumble through relationships our hearts each time refilled
though briefly, yet so unfulfilling
when the truth so painful is once again revealed.
The power of the avalanche of life is shown
through all the errors as we stumble ever on
from distress to distress. No wonder why we frown
upon and despise the very heart of humanity to which we belong.
So callous and so cold, we turn within ourselves
to protect the loneliness that longs to survive within,
through infidelity and deceit, though often then repelled.
Onward and forward, ever drawn to once again begin.
