About Me
Dj Damyard is a Belfast born DJ, remixer and music producer. He hosts his own radio show, "F ck Me, I'm Live!" and is currently signed to Trident Music. He also works with Ian Hamilton and Mark Downs, which together, make the "Vogue House Mafia".
It all started in 2004, when Damyard heard "Aerodynamic" by "Daft Punk". This was one of his first encounters with dance music of the sort and he immediately loved it. After more research he found out about DJing online, and soon, he had a range of softwares for editing music. Not long later, had he made a few remixes, and began his epic rollercoaster as a DJ.
After two years of remixing tracks, Damyard eventually got his first set of CD turntables. Not long after he was looking to start DJing on small local radio stations with dreams of one day making it on a world renound radio station. After the summer in 2007, Damyard was spammed on his MySpace page by VogueFM and after some time, he decided to join the online community despite being only 14 at the time. Soon, Damyard posted his first DJ application and was given the thumbs down and a lot of constructive criticism, which at first came as a huge mental knock to the 14 year old, but soon he decided to re-read the responses and to learn from them.
After some time to learn about the world of "underground dance music", Damyard had started to leave behind his liking for so-called "DJ"s who spent their time speeding up tracks on their computer and he started to explore new music genres, which were all so similar and new to him at first. Then with some help from his new online friends and he had finally started to see the differences and started to form a love for Electro-House and Electro styled music. Not long after, Damyard posted another DJ set on Vogue, which got a lot more positive feedback from his last one and at the same time, he started to produce his own music. After YouTube videos explaining it, he still couldn't get to terms with "beatmatching", and so, attended a DJing academy to help improve his DJing skills and knowledge.
Shortly after the course at the DJing academy, the 14 year old then lost contact with a lot of his virtual friends from Vogue FM thanks to the summer holidays, however, he grew closer to his new CD turntables, Pioneer CDJ400's. His production work improved, and he sent one of his tracks to Roman Speranza, founder of the record label "Trident Music", who saw potential in the 14 year old and told him to work on the track some more. After more work, Roman had agree'd to sign the artist and track to his record label, and the next month, the track, "Area 39" was released under "Trident Music". He spent hours every week over his summer holidays practicing, and with the help of some house parties, Damyard had finally got the hang of 'real DJing'. August came, and the now 15 year old was back online and had soon posted a brand new DJ set, a huge improvement to his previous two. At the end of August 2008, Damyard was accepted into the Vogue FM team.
Not long after, Damyard named his live sets, "F ck Me, I'm Live!". Inspired by idol, David Guetta, who calls his live sets, "F ck Me, I'm Famous!". By Christmas 2008, Damyard was DJing regularly and he started to notice a vast improvement in his mixing and in his production work. He was making many tracks, and soon, he had totally deleted everything he had ever made before he joined Vogue FM. At the start of 2009, Damyard formed the group, "Vogue House Mafia", consisting of two other DJs who also mixed sub-genres of House on VogueFM, Ian Hamilton and Mark KB/Mard Downs. In February 2009, Dj Damyard released new tracks on his MySpace page, which showed off a new style of his, which seemed to be more like idol, Benny Benassi's. The next month, Damyard worked with Roman Speranza, aka Romanthronics, and Perfect Cell to create "Distorted Noise", a mixture between Dubstep and Electro. At the end of March, Damyard got into a fued with Flashover Recordings over a remix of Ferry Corsten's Punk. It is believed that Damyard started talks with Disney Music in early April regarding a remix of Hannah Montana's "Lets Get Crazy".
