From Compton, CA, TriStar (age 25) grew up in a world of gang warfare, drugs, racial tension and death. He discovered his lyrical talent at a young age and, through hundreds of songs over the last several years, he has honed his skill to razor sharp perfection. Having appeared on numerous mix tapes, including Cali Untouchables, Palm Trees & Gangstas, he has collaborated with or done features for the Dogg Pound, 2 Pac, Kurupt, Knocturnal, Yuk Mouth, Daz, Lil Zane and many others. After paying his dues for so long, TriStar is acknowledged by many for having been a pillar of the West Coast underground
rap movement for nearly 10 years.
Today, he’s the newest addition to Jaded Entertainment’s power lineup of artists, along with Eastwood and the Board Bangers. The most frequent comment from people who’ve heard TriStar is that he’s the “real deal.†And that realism shines through in his powerful lyrics, such as in his smash single, Dress Code. While his lyrics are aggressive, like the streets he was raised in, his flow can be nearly hypnotic. Klee Irwin, Jaded’s CEO, commented, “When Tri hits the mic in our vocal booth, it reminds me of water conforming to the shape of the ground beneath it. He morphs his voice and flow pattern so perfectly to beats that most listeners admit they’ve not heard anything similar.â€
Technically, TriStar is one of the most talented rappers in the country. Industry executives have dubbed him the “Gatlin Gun†because of his rare ability to rap in triple time. Along with Eastwood and the Board Bangers, TriStar’s debut album is scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2008. TriStar’s first single “Dress Code†is already heating up at mixshow radio and the second single “That’s Workâ€, featuring Roscoe is sure to be a radio phenomenon and a club banger.
