About Me

My name is Heather, I'm a mother of 3 beautiful, wonderful, funny, surprising, intelligent boys. I'm a wife to Nicky (who I met in high school). We've been married 8 years. I'm also a Project Manager / Software Engineer. I love being all three and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm a little geeky and I think I'm sometimes misunderstood, but who isn't? I don't ever feel like I have enough time to do everything that I love, which is spending time with my husband and kids, therefore I try to savor every moment I have with them. Sometimes I can talk your head off and sometimes I'm very quiet. I love chocolate and pizza and kittens and being outdoors. I hate beets and coconut and cold weather. I love to bake in the sun and dig in the dirt. I love quiet. I love very windy days, but not rainy. Some things I've learned during my life is that anything worth having requires lots of hard work, you can't trust anyone 100%, and to treasure the good moments and the people in your life because they could be taken away at any moment.

Favorite Quotes about being a software engineer:

It's the only job I can think of where I get to be both an engineer and an artist. There's an incredible, rigorous, technical element to it, which I like because you have to do very precise thinking. On the other hand, it has a wildlycreative side where the boundaries of imagination are the only real limitation. ~Andy Hertzfeld

Always code as if the guy who ends up maintaining your code will be a violent psychopath who knows where you live. ~MartinGolding
10 Weird/Random things you probably don't know about me:

I love to code while listening to heavy/death metal/rock - it makes me feel like a bad ass, LOL
I like NPR (National Public Radio) - I know, boring, huh?
I've always wanted to choreograph a dance to the song Solsbury Hill
I don't like listening to music with my kids in the car - too many interruptions
I majored in dance in college for a short time
I've always wanted to be a ballerina/professional dancer and I used to be pretty good at it
I love art in all forms, I love trying to figure out the story it's trying to tell
I've always wanted to dye my hair a crazy color, like purple, red or green, but I'd probably get fired from my job if I do that now
I used to dress in grunge in my early college years
My favorite subject in school was math
