Hello everyone
We are All Saints Morris.
We are based in Manchester Metropolitan University, England, UK.
We are a side of male and female dancers who perform traditional Morris Dancing.
We dance to celebrate the seasonal cycles of birth, growth, decay, dormancy and regeneration. We dance in country and city pubs, on the streets, in the woods, and a host of unexpected places!
We believe in dancing and playing music in the true spirit of the Morris, with all its inherent ancient magic and mystery.
This is British culture at its best, with a wild exuberant spirit that connects us to our roots in ways that are otherwise long gone. We particularly welcome overseas students, along with natives of these islands, to join us in this celebratory art form.
The name All Saints refers to the campus we practice on, and the much older location it is part of.
We dance Border and Cotswold Morris dancing in our own exuberant style.
We teach all of the dances we will be performing, from beginner’s to advanced levels.
We dance in the traditional Border Morris style kit of Tatter Jackets, decorated faces, interesting, customised hats, and Cotswold style bellpads. We will teach you how to make your own kit, and help you to cheaply and simply locate the materials for it. We have a number of spare jackets to lend to those without kit, while they are in the process of making their own.
We always welcome new dancers, who wish to come along and learn how to dance the Morris. Morris dancers and folk musicians from other sides, students or non students who live close enough to dance out with us are also welcome to join us for our lively morris sessions – by arrangement – please get in touch in advance.
We dance and practice to the live music of our Morris musicians. We are happy to welcome lively and interesting musicians along to join us.
