About Me

Well, what shall I tell about me ? I think I am that what people would call an aesthete. History, arts and literature are my greatest passions, there is no epoch I'm not interested in and I love almost every style of art and literature. But actually the era which fascinates me most definitely is the 18th. century, the period of baroque carnality, aesthetics, vitality, frivolity and bacchanal festivity, but also the Age of Enlightenment, French Revolution and the end of the Ancien Régime, consequently the turn to a new era. In this extraordinary century I regain myself because I really do not care about modern culture and society's opinion. About arts, I especially adore Rococo, Art Nouveau and the Pre-Raphaelites. Besides, literature by Anglophone and German writers and poets of the 19th. and 20th. century are my favorite. Did I miss something ? Well, I'm a feminist ! Yeah, male suffragettes do really exist, believe it or not. So add me if you want !
Whoso list to hunt, I know where is an hind,
But as for me, alas, I may no more,
The vain travail hath wearied me so sore.
I am of them that farthest cometh behind;
Yet may I by no means my wearied mind
Draw from the Deer: but as she fleeth afore,
Fainting I follow. I leave off therefore,
Since in a net I seek to hold the wind.
Who list her hunt, I put him out of doubt,
As well as I may spend his time in vain:
And, graven with diamonds, in letters plain
There is written her fair neck round about:
Noli me tangere, for Caesar's I am,
And wild for to hold, though I seem tame.
by Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503-1542)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Virginia Woolf (1882-1941)

"I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can't go through another of those terrible times. And I shan't recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can't concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don't think two people could have been happier 'til this terrible disease came. I can't fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. You see I can't even write this properly. I can't read. What I want to say is I owe all the happiness of my life to you. You have been entirely patient with me and incredibly good. I want to say that — everybody knows it. If anybody could have saved me it would have been you. Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can't go on spoiling your life any longer. I don't think two people could have been happier than we have been."
