MOZES

About Me

An Artist inspired by the Most High. Inspired by the world, interactions of creative souls and positive vibrations. Representing himself, family, friends and The Movement around him. Most of this music was made the old fashioned primitive way with the use of a cassette tape 4 track, turnables, old microphones and and outdated samplers. Mozes never worked with up to date equipment though, His belief is this gives him a more authentic sound. Mozes had been fascinated with recording since his Dad gave him his first cassette recorder in the late 70's as a child. Deeply inspired by many types of music from "Golden Age" Ol' School Hip Hop, Classic Soul, Funk, Rock, Reggae,Jazz & Heavy Metal. Mozes has gone on to incorporate all genres along with experimentation of sound. What you hear on this site is a direct result of his upbringing in New Jersey. Mozes grew up in the Jersey burbs outside New York City. A short trip accross the G.W. bridge was "Money Making Manhattan". Mozes attributes a lot of his inspiration of Hip Hop music to New York radio. It was around 1984 when he was first exposed to the "Golden Age" of Hip Hop Music. Mozes would stay up late listening & obsessively recording W.B.L.S, Kiss & W.N.Y.U 89.1 . Hip Hop culture was somthing new at that time . Mozes was treated as an outcast because of this and was told Hip Hop would not last. He not only loved Hip Hop music and Graf art and B-Boy'n He also felt that this was a cultural revoloution. He started writing recording his own rhymes along with friends. "I remember recording my first rhymes over a "B" side 45 instrumental of Whodini's Escape". he never could play an instrument so this was a way to be musical and express creativity. As the years moved on He began producing underground music in Jersey bringing artists together and recording freestyle sessions along with home studio work. "I was always the kid people looked to make recordings". So even though He did not realize it at the time, he was creating his own underground music. Most of his early recordings were made with his friend "Jaycee". They felt that they had a sound that Hip Hop had not heard yet. Jaycee played an integral role in Mozes' musical development and conciousness that they still share to this day. Mozes & Jaycee also went on to form the band "Zooie Electric" along with friends NJama and Spike. "Zooie Electric" was an experiment long before the Rap/Rock sound we hear so much of today. It was hardcore Rap version of Mozes & Jaycee's Ideas done with a live band. Mozes is the "missing link" of Hip Hop music. He believes that Hip Hop is a way to expand musicaly & spiritually. This site hopes to expose some of that music along with any new songs that come along the way on this site. The music of Mozes is a product of his own history, culture, feelings and experiences. It is an expression of his life.
