DoubleSpeak

About Me

The following is the saga of a 'lil ol band from the North Shore who stomped about the NYC/LI club scene way back in the 80's 'n 90's. Many folks liked their live shows but couldnt agree what to label the them. Although feedback was consistently positive from the patrons and the local press, the band never really put out a definitive recording to "take them to the next level" as they say, After a while, each member was besiged by the numbing hammer blows of of the continuous priorities of child, spouse, job and house in one form or another. Needless to say, the band became dis-band and the lads proceeded to trod different paths.FAST FORWARD MORE YEARS THAN THEY'D CARE TO ADMIT: Two years ago , with kids now grown, and different life scenarios behind them, the guys got together to make a little noise and have a little fun. Hell, maybe a lot of fun...

Band Members: Adrian : Bass-- European roots with American wildflowers intertwinned throughout. After '68, Adrian put down the cello and bow and purchased a Fender Precission... his cello never forgave him**********Billy : Drums/ Percussion ---Working class meets Master class. Been round the block enough to know better but still cant resist the urge to just give it a little more gas ...*********Kenny P. : Vocals --- Born on a hostile planet, this brooder of the Sumarian heritage opts for crooning as an alternative to cursing the darkness. And always watching the skies. ***********Joe : Keys.Vocals, Percussion---Although the alternate time line theory is rarely mentioned anymore, Joe continues to follow a cheery muse 'o detours down some surprising if not downright quirky alleys. Sometimes for a buck.***********Tommy : Guitar---Feet planted firmly in Old Skool but with the power and insight to make it fresh. All agree that Tommy 'n Les bring home the musical bacon.
Influences: Influences ?? We're talking about guys who were kids when most muscial content was being broadcast in AM !! What can be the influence when the Beatles song was followed by the Supremes, next a Sinatra ballad and finishing with The Singing Nun ! (kids, ask yer grandma) ******* The amalgam of musical styles that made up 60's TOP FORTY left an indelible mark on our journeymen . Imagine a period of a few short years when The British Invasion (Parts 1 & 2 for you fuckin' purists), Motown, Phil Spector, The NY Downtown , Folk & Folk Rock, The West Coast Scene (Surf & Psychedelic) and The Atlantic Records Soul Roster were ALL RUNNING RED HOT (served with a sprinkling of the odd Broadway hit & Country tune) and were ALL FLODDING THE AIRWAVES SIMULTANEOUSLY! !!!!! It's ALL AN INFLUENCE as the beat shall bear witness. (However we're grateful that we bypassed the "Lawrence Welk Show" and "Sing-A-Long With Mitch" (yeah, grandma again).
Sounds Like: It 's recognizable as a rock/pop form but has elements of 'other'. Play the tunes & you can decide for yourself.
