So yeah... My major is Game art and design, so going off that, I'm going to assume I'm into video games, or really any computer graphic related topics. In addition to games (Both the creation, and the playing of them), I like to consider myself an artist. While I don't particularly think I am the most talented in drawing or painting, I do take pride in my ability to come up with some interesting back stories, or history/lore for characters I dream up. I guess if I could have any job in the world, it would be working with Chris Metzen in creating more Lore and History for some fo my favorite games / movies.
Soooo, I guess if I could meet anybody I wanted to meet... I would have to say I'd like to see what Chris Metzen is really like in person (Concept artist). Seeing as how he single handedly made me have any interest what so ever in art, I would like to sit down with him and have a drink discussing art, video games, and all that shit.View All Friends | View Blog | Add Comment
So it's like this, I was brought up old school. I'm talking all types of old school, ranging from Elvis, Aerosmith, KISS, Rolling Stones, The Eagles, some Eric Clapton, and even going back to some Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, etc. Now, because I was brought up old school is not to say I have no desire to listen to the new school. I dig all types of music, Weezer, Pearljam, Soil, System of a Down, Cake, are just some that I can throw out there off the top of my head to show my diversity in music.I will say however, I listen to music typically for the feelings the song tries to give out. I won't listen to garbage dance or pop music that has no soul or feeling to it.
Ok, this one is pretty weird for me. Being an art student, you should realize that yes, I do indeed watch cartoons, and or Japanese animation. So for the sake of those who dislike cartoons or Japanese animation I will break it down into two sections of top movies for me.Firstly we will begin with the RL (real life) movies, well as real life as you can get with all the CG (Computer Graphics) that are in movies nowadays.Top Gun. yes I know, I know, many believe this movie to suck complete ass, well all I have to say to you is... Go die in a fire. This movie I have seen more than any other movie, and I can probably quote the entire thing, sadly.Gladiator. Ok, so this one is a favorite for a couple of reasons. Firstly I love the actors/actresses in it, an amazing lineup of talent. Secondly, amazing effects and realistic feeling. Thirdly, ITS NOT A TYPICAL AMERICAN MOVIE. Holy balls, are you serious?! the main character dies?! it's not a "And lived happily ever after" movie? Thank god. I believe the Green Goblin said it best in Spiderman when he said "The only thing people like seeing more than a hero is... A hero failing, die trying". Most cases yes, I agree, I love the extremely emotional battles in which the hero dies, though I prefer if the hero wins at "something" not necessarily living. A perfect example of this would be Cowboy Bebop (I'll get to that in the enxt section).I'll leave out my favorite comedies, because wellllll comedies are typically all the same, usually no real depth but a good time waster. As stated above, I do watch cartoons / Japanese animation. Now before you start knocking it and skipping on to the next section, let me very briefly state why you should in fact give some of these movies a shot.1. There are some absolutely beautiful pieces of art found in some works. 2. there are some amazing character designs, and story elements found in animated movies that you just don't find in Hollywood RL movies. 3. and finally, you are able to get a little culture. Watching Japanese animations gets you first hand experience on just a little bit of that people's culture. Give it a shot before you join the bandwagon and diss the hell out of it.
So TV. Yes I finally got cable at my new place, so I'm able to watch some tele. Well, I'll make this one brief and lay down the law as to what shows rock ass, and what shows you should see.Firstly is Scrubs, if you've been living under a rock for the past 2 or 3 years, then keep living there because you'll be pissed that you didn't know about this show. Yeah it's that good.Arrested Develpment, which was originally on HBO I believe, is also an awesome show, I recommend buying the DVD's and watching it.Boston Legal. This show is... well I don't know how to describe it other than genius. There is a sort of... well, COOLNESS aura that emanates from it.Lastly I'll throw down the Anime. Yes I know omg (OH MY GOD) anime, what a geek. What ever. Granted there are dozens upon dozens of these shows that suck complete balls and make me want to cut myself when I hear about / watch them. Setting those shitty ones aside, here are a few I believe you should watch.Cowboy Bebop. I'm sure you've at least heard of it, most have. Cowboy Bebop is a more mature themed anime, which deals with space cowboys (bounty hunters in the future). The show really isn't that linear at all, aside from maybe, 5? 6? episodes that hold the core storyline together, it kinda just randomly spits out these very interesting and satisfying episodes. The characters in the series are an absolute masterpiece, never have I been drawn in so close to a character and almost cared for a character as I did these. Anyways, I"ll hold off on continuing because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I strongly suggest you at least try it out, and if you don't want to buy it, then borrow one of my DVD's you betches (bitches). A few other quality series are:Trigun.Greatest Teacher Onizuka (Humor).Golden Boy.Berserk (Love it, or Hate it type of show).
