Formed in early 2006, in Suffolk, Virginia, Outrageous Rhinoceros showcased their
original chaotic/spastic approach to songwriting on their 2007 self released demo
with the songs "Detox Kaliedoscope" and "Negative, I'm A Meat Popsicle" . The band
found an audience through a few dozen shows, word of mouth, and various
sources/blogs on the internet.
2008 was a much bigger year for the band, prompting two minor lineup changes
and a slight change in musical direction. The band enlisted Thomas Oliver as a
permanent bass player, and started writing songs of a much more raw/heavy
nature, followed by even more shows with these bands: Pulling Teeth
(Deathwish, Inc), We Were Gentlemen (Century Media), The Number Twelve
Looks Like You (Eyeball Records), Cholera (Compton Records), Abacabb
(Sumerian Records), Too Pure To Die (Trustkill Records), Cannabis Corpse
(Robotic Empire), and more.
Outrageous Rhinoceros' music is characterized by heavy, dissonant, and often
times panneling guitar riffs, bold bass lines, and dark lyrical content.
The Subculture Vulture EP was recorded at Double O Records, is currently being
distributed by Crazy Little Guy Records and will soon be available through
Itunes.
