Daniel Manrique Smith

Daniel Manrique Smith (Lima -Peru, 1982) studied classic and jazz-flute at the Conservatory of Cologne ("Hochschule für Musik Köln") and the Conservaory of Frankfurt ("Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt"). After studying 10 years at the National Conservatory of Lima under Prof. Vivanco and Prof. Peredo, he came to Germany in 2002, where he studied classic-flute for 3 years and then jazz. He has performed in numerous European countries including Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland, on various stages such as Loft (Cologne -DE), Stadtgarten (Cologne -DE), WDR (Cologne -DE), Tanzhaus NRW (Düsseldorf -DE), A-Trane (Berlin -DE), Theatre La Fourmi (Luzerne -CH), Bee-Flat (Bern -CH), Moods (Zürich –CH) and festivals like the "Swiss Jazz Festival" (Schaffhausen -CH) and the "VIELJAZZ Festival" (Zug -CH). Daniel has shared the stage with renowned musicians, including Paolo Alvarez, Dee Dee Bridgewater (with the MHS Big Band), Djelma Correa, Tilmann Dehnhard, Claudio Puntin, Lalo Shifrin (with the MHS Big Band) and John Tilbury among others and has won numerous international prizes in Southamerica.
