I am the Band Leader of FILET OF SOUL, a kick ass Cover Band that plays classic R&B, Funk, Van Morrison and Bruce like no other and all the other music you want to hear a party band play! I am a Rhythm guitar player that came out of the Grateful Dead cover band world. I have been playing guitar since the age of 12. I learned how to play guitar in the unconventional style of Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead, thanks to my teacher Jeff Mattson of the Zen Tricksters. I became one of the best Rhythm Guitar players around NYC Dead Cover Band scene, and I got to play with some great Dead Cover bands such as Bear's Choice, Lost Marbles and The Zen Tricksters. I have performed at some on New Yorks finest venues , with my most memorable shows being at Wetlands, and Crossroads in NYC. I had the chance to play with some GREAT Musicians like Jeff Mattson of the Zen Tricksters(also a great guitar teacher, Thanks Jeff)Dave Berg of Lost Marbles a(a killer Guitar Player), Dave Dimond and Russ Stedman two of the best drummers to ever grace a stage. and Rob Baracco of the Zen Tricksters, and Amy Peters(what a great voice). I moved to New Jersey had kids and I put the guitar down for awhile. I was out of the music scene for a number of years. Four years ago Shannon Winters and I put toghether a kick ass band called Filet of Soul that plays Rock, funk, R&B and Soul covers. The band consists of 7 players, and can lay it down with the best of them. Shannon Winters on Lead guitar, Bill MacKay on Bass, Bob Penny on Drums, Marnie Doherty on Piano and Vocals and Danny Ray on Sax,Franco on back up Tenor Sax and Newbie sax player Kim Christman, oh, and I'm on Rhythm Guitar and Lead Vocals. Filet of Soul does not just take cover tunes off CD's and regurgitate it back at you. We take great Rock, Funk Soul and R&B Tunes and play them with our take on them with passion and conviction. We know how to keep the ladies on the dance floor and keep the crowd in the bar.
