About Me

Showcase for Lisa Beyer's assorted bodies of art work.Pantyhose Animals: Stuffed animals made of pantyhose which are based on mixed tapes. The goal the artworks achieve is to lend an artistic avenue in which the artist can focus on relationships between herself and others through music. Mixed tapes are exchanged between herself and others. The tapes are then listened to in an alternated fashion whilst the pantyhose animals are created. In this way the artist explores the language of music which allows her to better focus on her subject. Hand sewn.Flannel Animals: A body of work which was created as her Bachelor of Fine Arts senior thesis project. Conceptually, these animals were design as something with an adorable exterior which would lure the viewer into inspecting the artworks more closely. These animals have political messages embroidered upon them, such as "have a nice peace talk" or "killing other people just isn't very nice." Also hand-stitched, these creatures were displayed in vintage chairs so that the art viewers might sit down and hold the artworks while discussing politics or whatever stuck them.Music Millennium Displays: Displays created for the Northwest Music Millennium store during its lifetime in the past two and a half years. Fluffy paper seems to grow out of these displays, a strategic move on the part of the artsist to grab the attention of the viewer more than would a flat painting. Some comic-style drawings of the artist are also included in the displays. Conceptually, the displays advertise or showcase in-store performances which took place within Music Millennium or advertise particular musicians albums generally.See photo albums for pictures of these aforementioned bodies of work.
