I am here for Friends

About Me

So this is myspace, a small window in which to glimpse into an individual's life. Net based narcism? A digitalized reticulation of like minds? Perhaps both, but undeniably amusing nonetheless. So here is goes...
I love to laugh and enjoy time spent with family and friends. I love anything "old": classical music, victorian homes, 1940-1950's movie stars, antique furniture, museums and anything else that can tell a story. I love to walk into an antique store and feel the history around me, because if each piece of furniture could talk, what stories could be told. I also love photography and taking pictures of everything and everyone. I can't count the number of pictures I have taken and developed over the past 8 years and I am proud to say they are all in photo albums. Definitely a little hobby of mine.
"A generation which ignores history has no past and no future."---ROBERT HEINLEIN, 1907-1988.
I enjoy portrait paintings but I have a very definitive taste for Art. I am especially fond of the French Academic Artist, William Bouguereau (1825-1905).
"If we could but paint with the hand what we see with the eye". HONORE DE BALZAC (1799-1850), (French Novelist).
I love living in the mountains here in Southern California. It is my escape from the daily grind of "city life". The four seasons just can't be beat, just enough snow to make it a novelty. Winter is my favorite season and I always look forward to a day trapped indoors by the fireplace, watching it snow outside and forced to relax. The commute to the mountain is a small price to pay for my little safe haven in the sky.
"Be he a king or a peasant, he is happiest who finds peace at home."--JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE.
I would like to say I have been blessed with a loving and supportive family, from my parents to my husband. My twin brothers and I have always been very close and they too are happily married with families of their own. My parents have instilled the importance of family and the integrity of those relationships in all three of their children. Thank you Mom and Dad! I also cherish my friendships that I have made over the years and look forward to those yet to be made. I have a tenacious love for each and everyone one of them.
"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides."---DAVID VISCOTT, 1974.
Some of the simple pleasures in life that make me happy and in no particular order:
Yankee candles, excitement from my dog when I return home, spontaneous hugs from the kids, my husband’s back rubs, the smell when you first walk into an antique store, family road trips, Friday night snow storms, a clean house, the first spoonful of peanut butter from a brand new jar, vacuum lines in the carpet, when my Daddy calls me “little girl”, matte lipstick, flannel sheets, catacombs, etiquette, museums, Sunday afternoon naps in the winter, men's cologne, cobble stone sidewalks, the "clean feeling" of my teeth after leaving the Dentist's office, green lights, caramel hot cider after playing in the snow, people who smile back, wainscotting, Pacific Coast Highway in October, Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, air-conditioning, laughing until in hurts, Victorian history, the blossoming cherry tree in my front yard every spring, chenille mittens, developing pictures, fitting into my “skinny jeans”, planning vacations, hosting dinner parties, making pastry baskets at Christmas, creating new recipes, wrapping presents, dancing at weddings, people of integrity, and being together with my twin brothers at family reunions.
I could tell you my dislikes, but the list is long and the older I get the longer the list becomes. I will say I dislike, liberalism, tolerance, complacency, fence riders and individuals who portray themselves as victims. Integrity, accountability and honesty are a must! Sorry if I offend anyone, but "myspace" is just that, "myspace", however I would like to make this page more about the lovely things I treasure in my life. I am rather opinionated and quite candid a majority of the time, so I guess you can say I am a passionate individual. I am passionate about what I love and passionate about what I vehemently dislike. It's hard to be a Christian sometimes when I have such strong opinions and I find myself holding my tongue. But then again, The Bible says it is better to be hot or cold, than to be luke warm. So I guess you can say, I unequivocably know, that I know, that I know!!!! LOL. I'm definitely not perfect but I have high expectations of myself and I try to give my best, especially to those whom I keep close.
"The two most abundant things in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity."-- HARLAN ELLISON
My husband and I have been married three years and I have definitely found my soulmate. Even though I married later in life, no time has been wasted, I have worked hard in my nursing career, purchased a beautiful cottage in the mountains, developed many long lasting friendships and had plenty of time to play and just be me. Not only did I find my soulmate, I inherited three lovely stepchildren and I have to mention, I hate the word "stepchildren" because of its negative conotation. My husband's children mean the world to me and I adore them. I prayed for a Godly man and The Lord gave me a family, I guess you can say that I got the bonus plan!
"Where can a person be better than in the bosom of their family."--MARMONTEL GRETRY.

My Interests

My myspace page is a tribute to my favorite French painter, William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905). I have always been fond of his paintings, especially his work during the 1890's. His paintings are so ethereal and an art critic once said, "He captures the soul of the youth".

"Not Too Much To Carry"(1895)
"Just a Taste" (1895)
"Before The Bath" (1900)
"Daisies (1894)"
"A Calling " (1896)
"In Penitence" (1895)
"The Difficult Lesson" (1884)
"At The Fountain" (1897)
"The Curtsey" (1898)
"A Little Coaxing" (1890)
"La Frileuse" (1879)

I'd like to meet:

I have already met him. My husband is very passionate about life and it shows in everything he does. He is a very strong man with a gentle spirit, and his integrity and fortitude is what attracted me in the first place. I love the way he loves me. Not only do I love him, I admire him.

"The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed."--JIDDU

Music:

I work hard therefore I play hard...

"Every man's work, whether it be literature, or music or pictures or architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself". SAMUEL BUTLER (1612-1680--British Poet)

The true Chief of Surgery in my world.

"God help the patient". LORD MANSFIELD (1867-1915, British Artist/Author)

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Isaiah 40:28–31 NKJV

Movies:

The following, are just a few images that make me smile.
"Laughter is day, and sobriety is night; a smile is the twilight that hovers gently between both, more bewitching than either"--HENRY WARD BEECHER, 1813-1877.
If you haven't guessed by now, I love famous quotes, I could read them all day long. I have so many favorites. Some more of my favorite quotes...
"There's no ceiling on effort!" HARVEY C. FRUEHAF
"To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society". THEODORE ROOSELVELT (1858-1919
"Dignity consists not in possessing honors, but in the consciousness that we deserve them." -ARISTOTLE
"In the arena of human life the honours and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities".-ARISTOTLE
"Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of - for credit is like fire; when once you have kindled it you may easily preserve it, but if you once extinguish it, you will find it an arduous task to rekindle it again. The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear."-SOCRATES

Thank you for viewing my page and with that, I will leave you with this quote...

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery everyday. Never lose a holy curiosity."--ALBERT EINSTEIN
