He has appeared live on “The David Letterman Showâ€, "Saturday Night Live", "The MTV Music Awards", "Regis and Kathy Lee", and “The Conan O’Brien Showâ€. He can also be heard singing on the soundtracks of "Working Girl", "Tarzan", "Anastasia", and "Mickey Blue Eyes".Frank performed in the Grammy award-winning "Best Live Group Video";Modern Love", with David Bowie and his band on the 1983 worldwide "Serious Moonlight Tour".
In June of 2007, Frank was presented with an Emmy Award for his solo vocal performance on the Outstanding Original Song in a Children's/Animated program, "Q Without U" for the PBS series "Between The Lions".Frank hails from a professional voiceover family. His dad, a ubiquitous announcing presence in New York in the fifties and sixties, hosted “The I Love Lucy Showâ€, “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Colorâ€, announced for "Lassie", “Candid Cameraâ€, “The Garry Moore Showâ€, and was spokesperson for Kodak, Parliament, and Pontiac. He sat in as right-hand man on “The Merv Griffin Show†in the mid-sixties.Frank Sr.’s younger brother, Hank Simms, was the LA-based voice of the annual Academy Award ceremonies, as well as the booming announcer behind TV’s Quinn Martin Productions.As a voiceover and character actor, Frank has been the spokesperson for MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Gillette, Honeycomb Cereal (the devilish rasp of “The Cravingâ€), Dijonnaise, Alka-Seltzer, Allegra, Gushers, Butterfingers,is the Ricola “Cougher†and has been the voice of the Kool Aid Man for 15 years.Performing on hundreds of television and radio jingles, Frank also regularly sings the sketch themes, parody commercial themes, performs voiceovers on skits, and occasionally sings live with musical guests on NBC’s “Saturday Night Liveâ€. He’s heard weekly singing the SNL theme for Robert Smeigel's popular cartoon, “Saturday TV Funhouseâ€, and sang for Robert’s spinoff for Comedy Central’s “TV Funhouse†as well.You can hear many of his character voices on popular video game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, and Max Payne II.Frank writes songs, arranges and produces, plays guitar and bass, and has toured the world with both David Bowie and Billy Joel as a vocalist. His group with his brother, George, “The Simms Brothers Bandâ€, played for about three years and recorded two albums for the Elektra label in the early eighties. In 2007, Frank co-produced and sings on New Yorker Chris Arbisi's first CD, "Hot Summer Day".
