I was born in Rochester, New York. I was raised in the town of Caledonia. I played all kinds of sports and even came in 13th in the State for Tennis. I went to college at SUNY Geneseo.In my senior year, just before my 22nd birthday, I became the victim of a drunken driving accident. I had attended a party in Rochester. I had a few drinks but nothing I thought I couldn't handle. I decided I could drive home. On the way home, I went off the road and hit a cement abutement.No one else was involved in the accident. I spent the next 13 months living at Strong Memorial Hospital. Three of those months I spent in a coma. I never regained my ability to speak, to walk, or to use my left arm.I now live in a home with other people who have similar needs. Please don't make the same mistake I did.
