Currently, I'm working with youths. I like really simple things: diggin in the dirt and grinding it between my fingers, planting, learning, biking, reading, connecting with people, indulging in a movie or tv show now and then, and relaxing by myself. In the future, I'm going to participate in a mission to achieve sustainability (and self sufficiency), primarily to inmprove my quality of life.
Currently, as a consumer, I need to create an opportunity to become a skilled “producer". It will be advantageous to possess the know-how and means to plant, harvest, and store authentic veggies, fruits and herbs natural and free of chemicals. “Organic†must not be misunderstood as just overpriced packaged food with a fancy label, but honored as a respectable way of living and working with nature. Some permanent paths families and communities must eventually walk are growing our food organically, recycling our wastes, composting, building houses with biodegradable materials, etc. All these practices respect the natural ecosystems surrounding an area. When we take from the earth, we must give back, and she will continue to lend to us.
A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
