Sounds Like: 2005's full length record "the birth of winter" has gritty, hard hitting live hiphop beats, underpinned by bowel loosening bass tones. dark amalgamations of samples, killer scratching and harsh noise cascade over the top and all around, enveloping the listener in a realistic reflection of today's twisted society. the record is intended for listening in its entirerity, with samples linking tracks from start to finish, although the track cuts are placed so individual or random track listening is still possible.
2006's full length "iv words" is a much more 'musical' work. the bass is still groovy and driving, but the beats vary from phat hiphop to funky jazz workouts (all live drums, no drum machines in sight). each song is laden with stunning musicianship - wandering sax reminiscent of 70's impulse recordings and guitars that cover flamboyant flamenco to burning rock solos to stomping funk. keys in a variety of forms are ever present, as is the presence of dj fireworx's cutting, vocal-like scratching. "iv words" is a work of depth, maturity and incredibly intuitive songwriting.
