LUME

About Me

Lume's musical vision has always remained one of originality and integrity: To write and to play meaningful songs with honesty and passion, while appealing to listeners with songs about life rather than lifestyle. In pursuit of this vision, the musical and lyrical content of their material runs as deep and is as varied as the member's personalities. The songs are catchy but sincere, unique but natural, complex but organic, dark but uplifting; a refreshing twist on an otherwise dull and predictable musical landscape.
Lume's deput EP (Extended Play), a basement recording released independently, received a welcoming response from college radio airwaves in the fall of 2002 peaking at ..98 on the CMJ Top200 Albums Chart. In 2002 they also had the second highest selling album at CD Warehouse in Nashville, directly behind multi-platinum band Coldplay.
In Spring 2003 Lume began recording their second EP, appropriately titled EP2. Another college radio promotion in late and early 2003 and early 2004 saw EP2 peak at ..82 and stay in the CMJ Top 100 chart for six weeks. In addition, the five song collection has been used on the NBC show 'Road to the Ironman', several episodes of the MTV show 'Camp Gym', and landed the band a showcase in the annual South by Southwest music conference. When Lume began working on their new record, they made a collective decision to approach it differently than any other recording they had ever done. They wanted to write songs in the present-tense that articulated specific moments in the life of the band that were both real, and honest. From the very first meeting with producer Mark Nash, they knew the collaboration would allow them to see their ideas through from concept to completion. It would subsequently allow them to create their best record to date.Burn It To The Ground is a statement from the band that is both refined and finessed compared to its predecessors. Wheras previous releases (Extended Play, EP2) made their mark with bleak moods and heavy hearted guitars, the new record achieves a tunefulness that warms and broadens Lume's music. While there are still moments of darkness on Burn It To The Ground the band ultimately chooses light, without denying the gray areas in between.
