This album dedicated to 2LT Eugene Cerbone and PFC Domenick Scarcella, who served in World War II.
Influences: "Walk Peacefully" lyrics are adapted from a poem that has been passed from soldier to soldier since at least as far back as World War II. The poem, whose authorship is unknown, usually goes by the title "The Soldiers' Poem," but other titles found for it include "The Final Inspection" and simply "The Soldier." The original poem was shown to me in July of 2006 by my friend Julie Ross, and I thought it read like lyrics to a folk song, so I made a few changes and turned it into one.
"Remember Me" and "Proud of Him" were written after reviewing the materials from Operation America Rising, a network of rallies and fundraisers for military personnel and their families held on July 7, 2007. What struck me the most were the repeated themes of pride and maintaining personal connections expressed by the active-duty military personnel and their loved ones. I performed both of these songs (which were less than two weeks old at the time) and "Walk Peacefully" at the Delmarva chapter of O.A.R. rally in Dover, Del.
It was at the O.A.R. rally that I began considering this new EP recording project. I met some military veterans there who were very appreciative of the three original songs. I also learned more about organizations that send care packages, sometimes including music CDs, to troops currently serving overseas. A collection of new, original folk songs for the troops seemed like a good idea. I wrote two more songs -- "Heartbeat Lullaby" and "When I Get Back" -- that were thematically similar to the three I already had, but with less overt military references in the lyrics. That gave me five songs, enough for an EP.
Sounds Like: Read what people are saying about this project:
"As I've gotten to know Dom's music over the past two years, I've learned that he's not only a singer and a musician, but also a storyteller. And on his new project, Remember Me, he has really honed that skill.
All 5 songs relate to the story of an American soldier -- or to all of them. And Dom tells these stories in a way that really draws you in, with the right amount of emotion to grab your heart without being schmaltzy. These songs are good reminders for those of us who might not know someone in the war. There's stories about a soldier heading off to war, looking forward to coming home, those who are in the midst of it, and also a song from the point of view of soldiers' loved ones at home, and even one about a fallen soldier who is told to "walk peacefully" by God.
It's refreshing to see a musician undertake a project like this, and take a personal look at soldiers' whose stories are so often lost in politics."

"When I'm listening to the music on here, the emphasis that you've put into these songs and the words you've put out there, you really got the image to me.
These songs really hit home. There are very heartfelt songs here that people can really relate to."
