Locomotive

About Me

Based in southern Manitoba, Locomotive like most bands has come to be from the love of music and parts and pieces of the past.In October of ’04 Kyle Riach (vocals) and Kirt Henry (bass) who had played together in a couple of projects through the late ’90s to early 2000, got together with guitarist Barry Bergen. Klye and Barry had played together in various bands in the ‘90s.The trio soon recruited hard-hitting drummer Jeremy Kerda from another southern Manitoba band.By New Year’s Eve ’04 they started playing shows at the local watering holes. In August ’05, Claude Bowman (guitarist) joined the group and the five continued on playing and writing. Eventually, deciding it was time to lay down some original tracks in the studio. Friend DJ Wahl recorded and mixed the tunes. Additional help was provided from Paul Scinocca who did the mastering. They put together a three-song disc that was released in October ’07.Unfortunately, in late March of ’08 Barry parted ways with Locomotive. After a short period of confusion, the decision was made to proceed as a four-piece unit. Their style has come to be a mix of originals and classic rock with a Loco twist. At present Locomotive is:Kyle Riach – vocals Claude Bowman – guitar, backing vocals Kirt Henry – bass, backing vocals Jeremy Kerda – drums, backing vocalsThey are currently back in the studio with DJ recording nine more songs to follow up the previous compilation.
