The Hot Tickets

About Me

The Hot Tickets are five high school friends who were pretty sick and tired of the typical high school music scene. When they formed their band, they decided to dig deeper into rock n' roll history, drawing from influences such as Patti Smith, the Velvet Underground, the Clash, the Talking Heads, Lou Reed, etc. as well as the modern garage-rock sound of the Strokes, the Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, and Franz Ferdinand. They cover a wide variety of musical genres, playing covers written by anyone from Bob Dylan to the Clash to the Killers, and their wide range of influences is clearly seen in their repertoire of originals.
They are currently working on booking more shows and getting together enough funds to go back to the studio to record an EP. For now, the three songs playing on this page are currently available for free, just ask for a copy or grab one at a show, we always give them out, no cost.
For booking, email: [email protected]
OR call Julia at: 469-463-2116
We'll play your party, too! Just ask us and we'll provide great live music, all we ask for is an extension cord!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Julia "Sporadic Hiccups" Retta on lead guitar and vocals
Nathan "Eat My Tie" Wells on rhythm guitar and vocals
Sofia "Bassface" Retta on bass
Lydia Mo "Hit Me Like A Tom" Wells on the keyboard
Paulie "Paradiddle" Hinojo on the drums

Influences:
The Strokes’ ear and eye for music (fingers too), Regina Spektor’s individuality and mind for songs, Arctic Monkeys’ cool nonchalance and gnarly vibes, Albert Hammond Jr’s happiness and feeling, Franz Ferdinand’s sexiness, the Velvet Underground’s experimentalism and love for pure music, the White Stripes’ use of the slide, Johnny Cash’s style and story-telling honesty, Muse’s everything, Buddy Holly & The Crickets’ rock ’n roll style, of Montreal’s craziness and fearlessness, the Talking Head’s stage presence and theatrics, the Rakes’ danceability, Spoon’s weirdness, DeVotchKa’s ingenious songwriting, Vampire Weekend’s funky catchiness.
Sounds Like: If the Velvet Underground, The Strokes, and Franz Ferdinand all met for tea in Russia somewhere and created some tunes together featuring all kinds of strange stories and many instruments.
