About Me

Layland

Layland is a four piece band from Sandwich, Massachusetts. Please visit the Go Figure website to check out a great band also from Sandwich. Layland formed on July 10, 2002 with David Shorten on bass guitar, Steve on drums, and Gregorius Funk on guitar. At the time the band was called Hear, and they played their first gig at Sandy Neck Beach on August 8. The first album, Soggy Green Chair, was released in October 2003. A second album, Epiphany, was released the following summer during troubled times for the band. Directly before the release of the album, due to uncontrollable circumstances resulting from deep rooted artistic differences, Steve left the band in the summer of 2003. During that summer, the virtuoso of the band and G. Funk made a record of acoustic performances of both new and old songs entitled We Don't Need No Stinkin Drummer. However, the duo shortly realized they did in fact need a stinkin drummer. And that stinkin drummer was Josh Creedon, who joined the band along with guitarist extraodinaire Guy LaFleur in the fall of 2003. The new for peace band played several gigs, and in the summer of 2004 they released their album Man Made Island, featuring such hits as Mantequilla and Little Mary. Soon after, they began work on their fifth album, which they worked on for nearly a year. This album features the vocal talents of Brittany Moylan and tromboning of future band member Brian Paulding. The self titled album features the photography of Deborah Troyanos and fine artwork of Matthias Mehmel, and was released on November 19, 2005. On September 24, 2005 the multitalented keyboardist tromboner vocalist guitarist percussionist Brian Paulding joined the band. His boundless enthusiasm takes the band to a new level. I apologize for the empty dryness of what you are about to finish reading, as it is neither humorous nor thought provoking.
