Some bands form, others are produced and some even collaborate. But Strung Out lazily drifted into being. Don't get us wrong, plenty of tears, sweat and plectrums went into perfecting the band. However, we like to think that a distinct sound and rythm has been nurtured, refined and distilled to produce a delectable, live musical experience.
Karl Barker:
Guitar and vocals.
Myself... I was born and raised on the mean streets of 'County Coundon' - the capital of Coventry.
As many of my age '37' I was introduced to music by being force fed my parents choices from an early age on there stereogram, usually on a Sunday morning.
This went on for a while and then something truly amazing happened and the Specials appeared in Coventry. Everyone was a 'Rude Boy/Girl' overnight including me!
This was my first taste of REAL music as it were and roots music has been my passion ever since.
The music we play comes from almost all musical genres and this is reflected in what we perform today..

Paul Carmichael:
Guitar and vocals.
Born and raised in Coventry (for his sins) Paul's musical interest started very young. Every Christmas would bring a new instrument of some description to torture the rest of the family with. Nowadays however things are different and Pauls musical renditions bring smiles and cheer rather than excuses about having to stuff the turkey. The family are just glad they didn't suffer for no reason!

Bongo George:
Bongos.
Having come from the far reaches of the north. Bongo G is the latest recruit to Strung Out. His Bongos add a depth previously missing from the band and his rythmic sound completes the group... It's just a shame no-one can understand a word he says!
