Vision Impossible

About Me

The award winning VJ-team Vision Impossible, which was established back in 1997, is made up of three artists: Martijn Adema, Berry van Dijk and Ruben Langedijk. At night they fill the video screens of the biggest clubs in the world with their freaky images, during daytime they work on new video material in their studio in the heart of Amsterdam.

Vision Impossible has a very distinctive style. They generate all their images themselves instead of using existing video material. To achieve this, they use the latest technologies in computer animation. Much time is spent to design state of the art graphics, specially suited for a club environment. Whether they use their talent to create abstract graphics or character animations, you will always recognize the typical skills of Vision Impossible.

Another distinctive element of Vision Impossible is that instead of hitting the audience with a flood of random images, they try to tell a story. These non-linear stories are built up by a number of themes, such as love, space, music, cultures, energy, consuming, and so on. They can cover a wide range of atmospheres from a cheerful vibe by showing funny toys and disco graphics, to a dark and heavy mood by pumping machines, fire and devils. By mixing these themes, they are very well able to interact with the music and vibe of the evening.

Before teaming up with Amsterdam’s former superclub concept Kremlin in 2000, the guys from Vision Impossible made regular appearances at techno parties in the Milky Way, Mazzo and Paradiso. After joining the so-called Kremlin Krew in 2000, their involvement in the concept soon became deeper than just doing VJ-shows. While Kremlin gained international recognition with impressive weekly line-ups and top-notch productions, Vision Impossible helped to develop a monthly concept that included promotion, decorations and acts. In less than a year they developed a custom-made video-show that totally captured the Kremlin spirit.

In 2002 their effort was rewarded with a nomination by then leading dance magazine Basic Groove for ‘Best VJ / Art and Design’ and by winning this award they finally established themselves as an integral part of the Dutch dance scene. That same year, they also became the resident VJs at one of Holland’s most successful clubs, the MatriXX in Nijmegen. They have also worked in almost every major club and event in Holland, including Dance Valley, Innercity, Armin Only, Qlimax and the Sensation World Tour. Vision Impossible has also performed at international events in cities like L.A, Las Vegas, Glasgow, Miami, Rio de Janeiro, Kuala Lumpur, Prague and Istanbul, to name but a few.

For Vision Impossible this is only the beginning. They plan bigger shows that move more towards surrounding the visitor with a visual environment and adding sound effects to their performances. They have already created a virtual MC – a special project that attracted a lot of media attention – and showcased this project at Dance Valley, Transmission Prague and the WMC in Miami.

For the last years, Vision Impossible has also been working on a new project; the Vision Impossible DJ-VJ show. Besides the visuals, they also mix the music now. Together with a plethora of audio samples, they create an innovating dance experience. With this combination, Vision Impossible takes the audience on an audio-visual journey. After a series of successful sneak previews on various locations in Holland, the international premiere of the Vision Impossible DJ-VJ show was succesfully held at the Revelation Event in Kuala Lumpur, in August 2005. At the end of 2006 they performed in a stadium in Prague for a mindblowing edition of Transmission.

Every show takes them one step closer to their goal – to create the ultimate visual experience.
