About Me

A lil about me – hmmmm… who am I? 27 years of life on this planet and I believe that I am only beginning to uncover the depths of who I am and who I can be. I believe that I am full of boundless potential. When we start in describing who we are, I guess essentially we are describing the person we think we are. Maybe if I describe my passions, it may give you a glimpse into my world.
I work as a psychologist working with children who have been through episodes of abuse and neglect and who display a range of trauma-related behaviours. I love my work. One of my goals is to develop the persona of a clown psychologist in my future years which would be to incorporate the world of magic, clowning, ballooning, puppetry and humour into a therapeutic environment. Over the next 3 years, I hope to travel to Russia with one of my inspirations, Hunter ‘Patch’ Adams (the man who inspired the movie) to do some work in the orphanages and hospitals there. Currently, I am working hard at being the best that I can be in my work which means reading and absorbing anything that can help in the process. I work with a wonderful team of individuals and am delighted to be surrounded by such amazing people. On weekends, I volunteer at the children’s hospital which really helps me polish up my ‘clowning’ skills.
If I am not at work or thinking about work then U might find me immersed in music. I am passionate about music; I know how cliché that sounds but it’s true. I love everything from soul and funk to rock, jazz, world, classical and everything in between. I do not listen to the radio and when I do it is usually by accident. I believe that a true music appreciator is one who seeks out great artistry. I love the pioneers. The ones that came before everything we hear on radio today. Many of whom paved the way for artists today through their lyrics and musical genius. The ones who broke down doors for their music, beliefs and people. Artists who were far beyond their time and generation. Artists like Sam Cooke, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway to name a few. I also love artists that break the mould and choose to live out of the box; artists like Prince, Sananda Maitreya, Tonex and Rasalus. I have also written a blog entitled ‘What’s Happened to the Music’ for anyone interested to read more on my thoughts on music.
On a more personal level, I have been practicing a vegetarian lifestyle for almost 11 years now and I do not consume alcohol or engage in any mind or body altering substances and no neither of these have anything to do with a religious belief if that is what you are wondering. Love is my Religion. I believe that God is the same passion that preaches the raw gospel as the being who just as passionately ignores it. I believe that God lies in our passions and not our judgments. Whether, you choose to accept that as a belief in a higher being or not, I leave that up to you. My political view is that I think we spend too much time on Al Qaeda and not enough time on Al Green. Having been someone that was a military officer for 2 years in a conscripted army, I still stand by the belief that war is not the answer, and that only love can conquer hate. I love reading anything that can help me better myself as a person. At the moment I am reading books on existentialist psychology; bringing together my interests in philosophy and psychology, positive psychology, music biographies and various inspirational texts.
My heroes are those that choose to be different. The people that inspire and make a difference in their time on this planet. We all are given 24hours a day. No one is given a minute more or less, yet these extraordinary individuals are able to create such momentous impact and change in the world. My heroes are people that live the message; afterall, I believe that hands that help are holier than lips that pray. Sai Baba, Mother Teresa, Patch Adams, Gandhi and all the people whose names never reached the wide world; these are my heroes.
On a lighter side, I love bad jokes and corny pick up lines, I love making people laugh but also laughing at myself, I love losing myself in another person’s eyes; moments when we are engaged in the present moment, I love engaging in riveting, philosophical conversations but also in silly, frivolous ones. I dance in front of the mirror when I am alone which explains why I laugh at myself; I love being happy but also love learning from my suffering. We can learn so much from suffering, it is life's greatest teacher. I love learning from children, animals, nature and everyone I meet. I love listening to a 1950s record on a Sunday afternoon. I love thoughtful, moving movies but also love silly comedies, foreign films, action, sci-fi and psychological thrillers – not so much horrors or the supernatural (I live alone :P). I love puzzles, juggling, balloon sculpting and street magic. I love chess although I do not know enough people that can provide a challenging game :P I love poker nights with the boys especially when I win. I love watching live bands; the only way music was meant to be heard. I don't club as much these days and would rather grab a cup of coffee with a friend. I love hanging out on the internet; especially myspace, multiply and youtube and ‘meeting’ people from all over the world. I love traveling but more than the buildings and places, meeting and experiencing different cultures and people. I love my family. They have provided me with a strong foundation and a rich love for life through their examples. I love my friends. They are the flowers in the garden of my life. Well, I guess that's an insight into some of my passions and a glimpse into my world. If you would like to take a closer look into my world; my inspirations, journals, photos, music, reviews and a whole lot more please click on the banner below to visit my website.
Lastly, if I may I’d like to ask something of you. Can you spare some change to make a change? If you can, please donate now as the world really needs your love. Be the change you wish to see in this world and I hope to meet you someday if I have not already.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Sai Baba, Buddha, Jesus, Mother Theresa, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Sananda Maitreya and Rasalus.Sananda Maitreya (formerly known as Terence Trent D'arby) performing 'Holding On To You' from his classic 1995 album Vibrator. The album version of this song is a sheer masterpiece. And to be able to hear Sananda perform it live even better than the record is incredible. Vocally, it is reminiscent of a classic soul/rock ballad in the vein of Purple Rain as sung by Sam Cooke, Rod Stewart and Otis Redding.. it is POWERFUL!!! One of the greatest live performances I've ever witnessed. And now I share it with all of you.
