Kastasyde - "Divine Evil" Rehearsal
I began playing drums at the age of 13, but my introduction to music began at a much earlier age. When I was 7, I started taking piano lessons and with that was ingrained with a firm understanding of musical theory. I spent 5 years studying the instrument, but a growing love of Rock and Metal music inspired me to switch my attention to the drums. This change coincided with my entrance into high school and the window of opportunity for practicing, playing, and performing drums was now wide open. I soon found myself playing in the marching band, jazz band, and my own metal band, Calgary (formed in 2002).
With Calgary I began playing around the Chicago area very often, both in live and studio settings. The band has recorded many demo’s, played many shows in Illinois and beyond, and is currently preparing for the release of its first full length release (anticipated for late 2008).
In March of 2008, I was asked to fill in for another Chicago metal band; Kastasyde. The rehearsals and gigs went very well and I joined the band as a member in June of the same year. From there, we recorded a three song demo at Studio One in Racine, WI. 2009 began with a two week U.S. tour and after recently completing that, we are writing for the second full length album. Look out for Kastasyde on the road this summer!!
Outside of my bands, I am always looking to expand myself as a drummer and musician. I love ALL styles of music and constanly look for ways to challenge myself. If you've got a project or idea, get in touch! Cheers!
