Darrius “d.o.” Owens a.k.a “D.O.A” born on February 15, 1986 at Jackson Park Hospital on Chicago’s south east side. D.O. was raised with his mother and older brother T-Streets on the east side of Chicago. After his mom found that great opportunity they moved to the far south side of Chicago’s outskirts. After moving from place to place and jumping from school to school they finally settled down. Going to his new Jr. High school Prairie Hills he would meet up with several different people who were all in to the same thing, and that’s Rapping, Gang Bangin, Smokin weed, and fuckin wit the ladies. During his 8th grade year he met up with Big Dane an up and coming producer who was just getting started. After going to his house and listening to his beats they formed a named called S.S.P. (six sense productions). D.O. came up with name D.O.A. because he felt that everywhere he arrived to, he was dead off that dro or drank. He also felt like every track was going to be Dead On Arrival from him killing the verses. When D.O. got in to high school that’s when everything started happening. D.O. met up with Cazpa a.k.a. Caz who was killin every body in every rap battle at school or in the streets. They teamed up to form S.S.P. (Secret Society of People). They dropped their 1st mixtape in 2004 while still in school called “Hot Sick Shit That Will Tweak U vol.1. Selling only over 1000 copies in the streets the group wasn’t getting the buzz they needed. After 2005 everything started going downhill for D.O., several run ins with law would slow him way down. After going to jail twice in 1 year D.O. left the cook county area and went down state to a small town where a new face was a good taste. After getting it in downstate for about 8 months, D.O. came back to the Chi to record S.S.P. vol.3. After D.O. and Cazpa did over 30 tracks the group would of course have their differences with each other. June of 2008 D.O. went back downstate to trap it out, but his second day there he would get set up and ambushed on by police in a small housing project. After spending his whole 08’ summer in jail he got out and got right. Writing his 1st solo album with beats from Big Dane and many others he plans on recording and dropping it early 09’. Still keeping in contact with all the guys, D.O. and Cazpa has been doing shows at Club Cancun, and their most recent performance at SIUC with Bump J who also was locked up in that town. As of 2009 its Grind Time for D.O. looking for that major deal any day now.
