About Me
The group’s name, Baraya was adopted from Indonesian Sundanese word which means; relative, family. The word Baraya was chosen not only because of its catchy sound or/and easy word to pronounce or remember, but also for a reminder to all of us, that we are somehow related, we are all family living under one sky, living in one earth. We are the same, no matter where we are, where we’re from, or which culture background we have. We are all human beings. Though each one of us is different and unique, we all have one thing in common, Love. The need for love, the love for music, the love for rhytm and melody.Baraya is a world, electro fusion band with a flavour of Indonesian Sundanese traditional music, with a highly original and appealing mixture of traditional sounds and instruments with western and contemporary textures.Danet Primandani, the founder of BARAYA, who started his musical journey as a drummer in Depot Kreasi Seni Bandung (DKSB) in 1984 at his hometown, Bandung, with the legendary, musician and visionary, the late Harry Roesli, and played for him in several music events, such as HarryUllyLeo concert (1984), Teater Koma’s Opera Kecoa(1985).
