About Me
Marcus Ardoin is a 24 year old accordionist from Houston, Texas. He started becoming musically inclined at the age of 4 with his first instrument, the drums. He continued to play the drums until the age of 7 when he picked up his first single row accordion, which was given to him by Step Rideau (Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws), Step also taught him to play his first song which happened to be the world famous "Cornbread".
He would practice all day and night driving his mother and sister up the wall. He gradually learned more and more songs until all he needed was to hear the song one time and master it. After mastering the Cajun accordion he went to play the triple row accordion. Loving the sound of his triple row accordion he plays it well enough to make it talk note for note.
After watching his grandfather Delfan Ardoin, brother of Boisec Ardoin, and his cousins Chris and Sean Ardoin, son's of Lawrence "Black" Ardoin take zydeco to another level, he then decided to follow in their foot steps.
Marcus would go to local Zydeco's and sit in and play a few tunes with different bands including: Brian Jack, Nooney, Step Rideau, Chris Ardoin, Sean Ardoin, J Paul Jr and more to get the concept of playing on stage with an actual band. At the age of 18 he decided to create his own band, even though it would be hard and expensive to get started. He worked to buy equipment piece by piece. In just a short time he got some guys together to practice and then came up with a name, Marcus Ardoin and the Zydeco Legendz.
The first performance they did as a band was at a family event in June of 2002, after the hard first year of trying to be heard they started getting gigs at many local venues. Some are: Jax Grill, Club Fragrance, and Club BMW. They put things together to record their first CD "We Ready" which helped promote them. As the crowd grew bigger and bigger they performed at Zydeco Festivals in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Louisiana.
In October of 2004 the Zydeco Legendz went on an East Coast tour sweeping them off their feet with the sounds of the new and old school zydeco. After returning home Marcus thought it was time to step up and prepare for another CD that was released June 17th, 2005 which he named "Unforgettable" and that's exactly what it is. They feel right now there is no stopping point. Getting ready for another CD is on the rise.
In OCtober 2006 the Zydeco Legendz went on to California (Almeda, San Diego, and Long Beach) Working on a new CD which should be out late this year or early next year entitled "A New Beginning" plain layout @ Unique MySpace Layouts - Movie Layouts - Music Layouts - More MySpace Layouts! - MySpace Tools
