I'M A PRODUCER, I JUST HAPPEN TO RAP! ! ! ! ! !

About Me

Born Kristopher A. Alvarez on December 18th, 1985, Risky grew up on the Northwest side of Houston, TX in the Spring Branch area. Raised mainly on music from the 50's and 60's, Kristopher was in a household that always music playing. "I didn't get into Hip-Hop until I was in 5th grade or so. It was usually Oldies, Tejano, or R&B on the radio at my house. I was really into Boyz II Men & Michael Jackson when I was little.", That eclectic taste in music only broadened when Risky found Hip-Hop. "When I got into Hip-Hop, that whole Biggie/ Tupac drama was goin' on. Despite all the hype, I was never really into Tupac, I could care less how many people were swingin' from his nuts. I was always a Biggie fan." At age 13, Risky and his friends began freestyling into a potable tape recorder that they found one day in his friends house. From that day on, every weekend, Risky and his friends would stand in his friend's front yard and freestyle to instrumentals banging out whoever’s car was parked in the driveway. "After a while it got kind of crazy. We had people from all sides of town coming to 'freestyle' with us. Really, they were trying to prove to us that they were better... Unfortunately, they were never right. [Laughs]" At age 16, Risky met his future manager at a flea market in Spring Branch. Seeing nothing he was interested in, Risky stopped at a booth where he met Cris "DJ Guero" Cook. "He was selling screwed and chopped mixtapes. And I asked if he had any mixtapes that were all freestyles, he said he didn't because all the guys he was bringing to the studio were wack. I said, 'Put ME in the studio!' He looked at me and said 'You rap?!' [Laughs] I guess i needed work on my image or something..." After recording a 6 track CD of Risky freestyling, Cris showed the disc to friend and fellow dj, DJ Ovadose. Quickly taking interest, the future of Risky's career was discussed and Cris introduced Risky to DJ Ovadose. After recording 2 verses for Ovadose, Risky was asked if he would be interested in joining his group, The Choppaholix, and at age 17, Risky would have his first of many freestyles played on local Houston station Party 104.9 (now Party 93.3). Shortly after joining the Choppaholix camp, Risky took an interest in producing. In the Fall of 2004, the beginning of his senior year at Cypress Ridge High School, Risky decided he would start two music labels. One, He would call "Yellow Tape Muzik Group" and the other, which he would start up with his co-producer J. Spino, was respectfully named "J. Risko Productionz." Risky's career with the Choppaholix camp would run strong until April of 2006, after having a converstation with DJ Ovadose in which the two agreed it would be best if they parted ways. Despite the break up, there has never been any bad blood between the two. “I learned a lot from Dose, probably more than he thinks I learned. [laughs] He was a great teacher and I will always see him as a mentor that helped push me and my career in this direction.” With the professional break up behind him and 4 years of professional experience mentally locked in forever, Risky knew what he had to do. Dedicating himself to both labels full time, Risky became the key player in a quiet and gradual takeover in the Houston underground music scene. “It still isn‘t complete yet. We‘re at about 98.5 percentile now. I‘d advise everyone to kindly move out of my way, please don‘t get comfy [Grins].” While building his two soon-to-be empires, Risky has seen artists come, go, and switch teams. He’s learned what to do in order to make each of his artists shine their brightest, even when he gives them a track he knows is out of their element. “I have the formula, I‘ve studied the greats, analyzed who‘s hot right now and why they‘re hot. I know why they won‘t be hot tomorrow… It‘s hard to explain, it‘s like I can see the matrix!” At such a young age it’s a mystery how he seems so sure of his future and can see down the road so clearly. With a renewed confidence and a "million dollar swagger", it is no question that this young man with the ability to “see” into “the matrix” could truly be “The One.”Hit ya boi up on the IM!!!get at me on Yahoo!: riskythachampor get at me on .. riskythachamp1 BranchBoiz!!!
