The band project started in 2003 when Gibo and Ruppè met. After a few months Paolo, a guitar newbie at the time, and Fabio, Gibo's acquaintance, entered the band.
With Ruppè hitting the cymbals and Gibo & Fabio not finding the right connection, the band project seemed to have no future, but Paolo worked hard to learn the first pieces and the band began to move its first steps into the music field playing classical heavy metal covers.
When Pietro (who had a side project playing with the band "In-sight") came in with his bass guitar, the band took part to the "Sovico in Rock" festival. With the temporary name "Dragon's Child" they were the first band to perform at the traditional summer festival. After that summer Cesare replaced Pietro.
As the time went by the band became a close-knit family, even though the bass players kept changing. Dark Island proved its stage presence and its sound began to shape up and evolve into something new in the metal field, leading to the first original songs.
In March 2006 Matteo took Ruppè's place at the drums, because Ruppè went in for new music passions.
Two months later Pietro, the first bass player, left In-sight and rejoined Dark Island.
The first Dark Island's demo "Killing Inside" came out in September 2007
