Hello here is a little about me.
I was born in Long Beach, California in the mid fifties and lived in the South bay until 1964.My mom moved my borther and I to Cherry Valley, California where we lived across from two Thoroughbred horse ranches, it was in heaven on earth.
This is where I learned to care for animals in a large way on a professional basis. My time there, and skills I learned on these ranches, is the foundation for my current success and aptitude for animal care of all kinds.Mom would take us to different animal attractions throughout Southern California. We were regulars at Palos Verdes Bird farm, Griffith Park, Marine Land and more. I could not wait to go back and visit.I loved this so much I accidentally fell into the chimpanzee pit at the San Diego Zoo at the age of 4.
I love all types and stages of animal care. For 12 years I was the director of shelter operations at Save a pet, Inc. helping 2000 animals a year. In the Palm Springs area. (so cool)I sat on sub committees for the Valley Wide Animal Campus helping to create policies on humane treatment and care for animals. The Valley Wide Animal Campus is a multi-million dollar facility that was started as a result of a video tape that was shot by volunteers working with me at another local shelter exposing horrible conditions. The shelter we are talking about was Cathedral City Shelter that contracted with California Animal Care and provided animal services for cities of Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, and Cathedral City. Now those cities have a shelter they can be proud of.Also myself along with friends from "Last Chance for Animals", discovered (at the time)one of the largest animal cruelty cases in Riverside County's history, the Jack Hartman case. This collector of animals had over 60 plus dogs and cats in two locations, some dead on chains and conditions so horrific, I will not go into detail. As a result all the animals that could be saved were. Mr. Hartman was convicted of felony animal cruelty.Working with several federal, state and local agencies, I orchestrated, I flew in animals to Palm Springs Airport during the hurricanes Katrina and RitaThis happened thankfull to T. Boone Pickens, a Texas oil tycoon, and his sister in-law, along with many others including Michael Arms, making this airlift happen. Through his seminars Mr. Arms has inspired me to be the best I can be at sheltering and caring for the homeless animals.
Peace is a result of a stupid war.
