I became interested in Folk & Irish music when I heard the Dubliners sing "Maids When You're Young" back in the 60's. I love rousing chorus songs and those that tell a story. Also humorous songs, perhaps where they're a little risque also!
I played at folk clubs and events all over the country in the 70's and early 80's - it was great in those days - lots of funny songs and lots of beer. Some people might remember me from the folk club I ran on Thursday nights at the Fleece inn, Addingham.
I live in Lumbfoot which is a small hamlet of about a dozen houses a mile outside Haworth, set in 'stunning Bronte scenery'. A few years ago, we declared independence from Great Britain, so Lumbfoot is now an Independent Duchy, twinned with Lhasa, Tibet. We support the Free Tibet movement. Lots more about Lumbfoot in Wikipedia.
Every February, some friends and I go to the Lake District for a weeken of winter mountaineering and a couple of nights singing and boozing in traditional country pubs somewhere in the Lake District. We are collectively known as "The Jolly Boys" There are some photos in 'My Pics'
Also see www.myspace.com/wearejollyboys for some more photos and songs - but please don't listen to the songs if you are easily offended! you have been warned!
